What I am worried about is the nuclear situation. Not only for Japan but the jet stream can carry radiation over to here.
the technology of those nuke plants is actually working, the containment vessels have not been breached despite an earthquake and flood of Biblical proportions
Those people working through all these aftershocks to stabilize the reactors are truly heroic
It seems about 8 or 9 workers have died at oil refineries and other power plants from fumes and burns, of course we hear nothing about that
Worry more about who is going to buy American debt and the spike in unemployment and the commodities inflation the disruption of Japanese economy is going to cause here and worldwide
Well.. if the meltdown does happen... the Pacific storms between here and there will filter the fallout quite well..
Bikk
I'm due for a new batch of xrays at my dentist this year, so I'll just take advantage of the passing radiation cloud... I'll buy some film and hold it next to my mouth and get the xrays that way. Anything to save a buck.
Been there ... during Chernobyl fallout.
:(
Anyone living now over the age of fifty has been exposed to dozens of actual Atomic and Hydrogen bomb atmospheric detonations, including two rather famous ones in Japan. A leaking reactor is not a good thing, but unless you’re living within a close radius it’s not going to kill you before something else does. That the Japanese, the only people to ever suffer a nuclear attack, also have the longest life expectancy on earth should also be reassuring.
