Just reported large aftershock, 7.2 about, around sendai area again.
Earthquake in its own right.
The great share of the damage is tsunami caused.
It could have been much, much worse.
Never been in a greater then 8.0 myself, but I guess I would at least have to change my shorts after wards.
I am not an expert but I do not think one plant having a meltdown would poison the entire pacific ocean. If that were the case no environmentalist group would ever have let these plants ever be built near water.
Generally if a meltdown occurs, the fuel rods get so hot they melt through the bottom of the containment vessel and burn themselves deep into the ground. They go down vertically. Not out to sea.
I agree wholeheartedly. This is so very serious and so very sad. It’s also a horrendous act of nature and so many people are lost and have lost loved ones. God bless them all and I hope and pray everyone finds their children who were in school. Prayers needed constantly.
Presence of Cesium was detected about 10 hours ago. That means at least a partial meltdown. Only way you can read Cesium outside the vessel.
they are handing out ki pills to japanese folks around that area.
We will pray for them - and for you - and your loved ones... I’m so sorry this has happened.
Thank you Alez.. you pretty much said what I wanted to say.. and ty for the Freepmails.. no, I haven’t forgotten ;)
Like I said in the replies.. let the peeps know you have the time on Earth to have the experience.. then let them challenge you ;)
What is more important is which way the wind normally blows. DOes it blow from your house to the plant, or normally from the plant in your direction?
watching a live stream from cnn international on my pc.
Agnosticism is something people just grow out of, over time.
Faith is actually stronger when you searched and found it than if you just happened to be born into it.
No no no. And you don’t know. Chill and stop the parroting of bad reports.
Ahhhhh, thanks for the info. That’s pretty scary. How far to they go before they stop? Do they keep getting hotter? Or do they reach a certain temp and began to cool? I don’t know much of anything about nuclear power, except I’m not a fan...lol
If anyone has a Facebook page please click on the link and ‘Like’ the page - it’s a search and rescue dog page and $1.00 will be donated to that fun for Japan rescues.
#dogblessyou http://www.facebook.com/exploredogs
Heres where you come in: For every Like of the Dog Bless You Facebook page (#dogblessyou, #dogs4japan), Explore will donate a dollar up to $100,000. Get this: If the page gets 100,000 Likes by Sunday, March 13 at 2 a.m. EST, that dollar figure doubles, and Explore will donate $200,000. Cmon people, lets help those quake victims!
Yes you are correct. compounding it is that we have conflicting reports and the fact they are still workign on getting seawater into the main cooling tank (not the pressure vessel) is a sign that things have not gone to the point where it can’t be stopped.
That’s good, I figured they probably were. The Japanese are probably more prepared for earthquakes then just about anyone else on the planet. Probably even more prepared then CA.
don’t tell me, tell cnn international who reported it.
They detected both cesium and iodide.
I thought that it might have been carried out in the steam released which may not have meant a meltdown at all.
dude!
whatever
maybe you should call the IAEA and demand that they declare a stage 7 emergency because the GOJ doesn’t know as much as you do or is hiding it from the world
then start using that homeland security duct tape on your windows while you dig an underground shelter
“now is NOT the time...”
I’ll report as abuse any jokes about the tragedy in Japan.
We don’t need that kind of s**t here.
