That’s one of my favorite secular Christmas songs. RIP, Mr. Martin.

Great story behind the song. She supposedly was concerned that the lyrics were downbeat enough to make her little co-star cry. And they were.

But "Hang a shining star upon the highest bow" is a piece of poetic genius. IMHO.

One of my very, very faves. ‘Have Yourself’.....has been resonated upon many bathroom walls with me singing....and various venues through the years playing sax. (I’m sorry I didn’t do it justice).

The sentimentality of the lyrics and the chord structure were brilliant.

Awww. That’s too bad. Prayers for his family.

I sang “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” last December in the local interfaith choir. Learning it in four part is harder than you would think.

From back when Hollywood still supported the family and America. They just don’t make them like that anymore!

Loved the movie too. See it probably every year around Halloween.

There was this old gentleman who volunteered to teach writing to the advanced kids when my kids were in elementary school. He was very particular and they got so much from this man. Some years later I found out that he was a similar writer of many popular tunes, show tunes, etc. including the Christmans classic, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year.” It made me stop and think: you just never know who someone is, so you should respect people who are older and are likely heroic in some ways. His name was Ed Pola.He gave my kids the very best part of their education.
