Guess what news source Google pushed for tsunami coverage?
Oh, Almighty Google Machine--I kid! We know you're not evil. You're the most benevolent algorithm ever. But every once in a while, Google (which owns YouTube) drops a little data point about how it sees the world
Early this morning, while bopping around YouTube (don't ask) I noticed something different--Google had popped a little "breaking news" alert at the top of the YouTube page, telling viewers about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan

The percentage of “writers” who don't know the difference between “then” and “than” is annoying.
I am outraged at the owners of Google. They will have their stomachs roasted in hell! (looking at brokerage statement).
On second thought, all the owners of Google should be given steak dinners with nice glasses of wine.
The Weekly Standard writer, Jonathan Last, was concerned that Al Jazeera was offered as a source of earthquake and tsunami coverage by Google. One of the followup comments to the opinion piece is:

M. writes in to say that, in his opinion, Al Jazeera was providing the best coverage of the Japanese earthquake: "Surfing around the net after the quake happened last night I found that Al Jazeera had the best live streaming coverage of the quake, better then the BBC, and certainly better then CNN, who as far as I could tell were only running short video clips that they ran a 30 second commercial in front of. Not to say that Google isn't evil, but I think they got it right in this instance."

Indeed, irregardless of educational attainment, the writer should of known the difference. Its a shame that so many common grammer mistakes persist. But whose to say that even I'm prefect in spite of my pedentry. /s

The top “news” result in the Google search this morning for me was Huffpo. The left-wing stooges at Google strike again. In that case, maybe they should become fake-sick Wisconsin teachers. Thanks xtinct.
All of the US outlets had ignorant newsbabes spouting hour+ old information that had already been corrected and updated. For example, CNN was still babbling about it being 7.9 long after the only debate by the various geological services was 8.8 vs 8.9.
Don’t normally watch ANY of em, but last night I was grabbing every single source that would load. I don’t know how good the Japanese news service was, though, as my Japanese is rather...lacking. They had the most up to date pictures on scene, and Al J had the most information and best translated reporting.
Sorry, but I have to call em like I see em.
I was absorbing as much information as I could as well since a former colleague of mine relocated to Japan. He obviously had a lot more to do than just feed me news. He's not too far from Narita Airport and, thank God Almighty, is doing fine.
Consequently, I was seeking timely data, searching for the best, most accurate coverage. Like you, Al Jazeera was the best of the bunch. MSNBC was late with interrupting its normal programming, Fox was repetitive (breaking news is not their forte) and CNN was downright an annoying in my estimation with that oh-so veddy British anchorwoman. Maybe because of their international orientation or perhaps simply because it wasn't the middle of the night, AJ was on top of this story.
I think that as Conservatives, we are thoughtful, rational people and unafraid to give credit for a job well done, even if it happens to a source that isn't to our liking otherwise. As you said, you call em like you see em and I'm in agreement with you on this particular matter.
