Sarah Palin said on FOXNews last night that she will probably wait to announce her 2012 plans until after other candidates announce.
“Thinking along those lines is unconventional for me, because I’ve never waited for anybody else to line up and then I jump in at the end.
In fact, in my races over the last twenty years, I’ve usually been the first one to jump in.
But in this case — because it is so monumental and so affecting on a family — I probably would wait to see who is willing to put their name forward in the hat, in terms of serving this country.

Wouldn’t it be funny if everyone is waiting for everyone else and nobody announces. What would happen 2 May at the Republican Debate if they have no candidates. I know they would cancel but that would be something.
Look what a "small band" of Taxed Enough Already politicians have accomplished already.
I think what Palin is saying is that she may, or may not run depending on whether a real conservative gets in the ring to challenge Romney from the basic right.
If there's no strong voice from the basic right, she'll get in and make Romney defend his commie past.
And I don't say that to be critical. I will get behind her in a heartbeat when (and if) that happens.
I think she is one of those rare birds who would not be driven to seek the presidency because of ego, but because she was the only viable alternative who could make a difference.
If Sarah sees some genuine conservative like Herman Cain gaining traction, I can honestly see her throwing her weight behind him.

She’s my first choice, but I wonder if the recent favorability polls have gotten to her.
If Michelle Bachmann declares (as it looks like she might), this would change the whole game....and really catch the commies off-guard.
They've been so preoccupied with Sarah, they would be totally blindsided.
I think like some of the others, she’s waiting to see if someone she can support gets in.

That's basically what I'm hoping for. I suspect it will be kept somewhat behind the scenes. Think I'll write Herman a check right now.
There’s no reason for any of the presumed front-runners to get in early. It serves them no benefit and can only serve to harm them.
Lesser known and dark horse candidates might benefit from getting in early, but they also risk fizzling out before the heart of the primaries.
My thinking is that Palin will wait till the last moment to announce that she isn’t going to run. It will take a lot of heat off of other candidates, and then she can use her star power to back the winner. Of course I could be completely wrong.
She has always said ‘you don’t need a title to make a difference’.
I sure hope she runs, though. I just can’t see anyone else fitting that bill for the current atmosphere. There are a lot of good commonsense conservatives out there. Those like Alan W, Michele B, Marco R, Rand P, Mike Pence, Jim DeMint, Mike Lee, etc. are needed where they are for a strong Congress and state government support. I see Sarah as shining in the leadership/executive role. Herman C would make a great cabinet member. John Bolton for Sec of State. Mark Levin for Attorney General.
Just my thoughts...
Unless she wins a lesser office like Senator, then in 2016 she will have been away from significant active politics for too long. Being a VP candidate on a losing ticket doesn't have much staying power and I don't believe she would accept an offer of being a second banana again.
She will sign a lucrative political color commentator contract with FOX, write books, make speeches and enjoy the good American life.
The problem with the 'waiting game' is that you may not be taken seriously when you do jump in. Nobody likes a 'Johnny Come Lately' in a big fight. (see: Fred and Rudy)
I'm a Palin supporter, but I didn't like her comment of "waiting to see" who jumps in.
You either WANT TO BE PRESIDENT or YOU DON'T! I want someone who not only has the fundamental principles for which they want to run, but actually that they also DO WANT TO BE President.
That's why I've always liked her. She has her head in the right spot. I think that she would rather raise her family than run the country if someone else can do the job properly.
Unfortunately for the country, Palin is probably the candidate who is the best on the issues.
