yes, police were raiding his house tonight. That was the big news of the evening.

I was at the hospital visiting a family member. We had Fox News on and saw the report of the Sheen raid. When we got in the car we decided to put on XM and hear what Greta was talking about.

That’s when we heard about this quake, originally reported as a 7.9 (huge), upgraded to 8.8. Then I heard about tsunami footage. I put on Fox when I got home and have been manning the controls ever since.

Gonna be an all-nighter.

I think you are thinking along the right lines. Bays are generally the worst since the water “bunches up”. A small island should be like a pole in the water with most of the energy being dissipated around it.

No, it doesn’t sound good at all. As soon after the quake that the wave hit, I doubt many people were able to get out of there. That water was full of buildings in the footage I’ve seen. It looked like the coast was scrubbed clean.

They were just showing on Fox that the tidal waves are higher than some of the Pacific islands. The death toll is going to be inconceivable before this is over with, I’m afraid.

I have to keep reminding myself this isn’t Hollywood. It’s so hard to believe anything on this scale could happen.

Thank you, and I am safe.. scared the crap out of me, but everything is well here. Will take a few hours to straighten the mess up.. but I am housed on the highest (that I know of) location in Chiba City.

I finally stopped shaking from the adrenaline rush about an hour ago.. just worried about my friends I can’t contact now :/

The front page of that site says the warning for Guam will last another 6.5 hours.

One of the aftershocks that occurred was 7.1, which could produce a secondary Tsunami all by itself. Gonna see multiple waves crossing back and forth.

I can’t imagine being able to grow accustomed to the ground shaking under my feet. The ground’s supposed to be firm!

Easy to believe this one scared the poo out of you. Just watching videos of what it was like inside some of the buildings during the quake, and hearing that awful noise, had me close to needing to change my britches! LOL!
