Army reprimands 9 officers in Fort Hood shooting

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nine Army officers are being reprimanded for leadership failures in connection with the shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, and their failure to detect and report problems with the accused shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, as he moved along in his medical career.

Saying that although no single event directly led to the tragedy, Army Secretary John McHugh found that certain officers failed to meet expected standards, an Army statement said Thursday. The officers - all lieutenant or above - will receive punishments ranging from an oral reprimand to the far more serious written letter of censure that is considered a career-ender.

There is no such thing as a 'small' reprimand in the Army. The opposite of Las Vegas, everything you do follows you for life.

There is no small reprimand in the Army. Screw up, wrong place wrong time, even by accident, whether you were right or wrong doesn't matter...You're done.

You can make it by, but your life is going to become a teenie tiny little bit more difficult.

Yeah, especially officers. We used to say even an LOC was the kiss of death for them. Some of them I respected, some, not so much, but, they had a pretty tough row to how, in some ways.

In the Army, stuff just doesn't go away. Well, ... it can ... but normally you have to be underage or your father is a Senator. Then they will let it go sometimes.

Another scenario is that they were brainwashed in univ. and really are too PC to be alarmed.

I think it is O'reilly that does the little video every once in a while of the Fox guy--Watters?--interviewing. He interviewed at Columbia, and the students gave brain dead answers. Didn't seem to have a problem with Islam--Christianity was just as bad --alternate universe.
