The Obama administration weighed in Thursday on the chaos in Madison, Wis.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walkers decision to force a bill on public employee union bargaining rights through the state Senate on Wednesday night was a clear sign that his top priority was not budget-cutting.
The actions taken last night, which divorced the issue of the states budget problems from the issue of the rights of public sector employees, pretty clearly showed that the actions were not following the principle that we need to all come together and work together and not denigrate or vilify public sector employees, but bring them into the process, Carney said.
He later reinforced that idea in a tweet, writing, POTUS says we must come together & set aside partisanship to fix our budgets. Actions last night in Wisconsin violate those principles.
Carney reiterated the presidents stance that everyone, including public-sector employees, needs to make sacrifices to cut spending, but that budget shortfalls should not be used to denigrate or vilify public employees.

Yes, the 14 Wisconsin Democrat Senators and their union thug enforcers showed that THEY were not willing to “work together” with others. They made it clear, it was their way or nothing. So, they got nothing.
If Obama was going to live by his own words, he would have encouraged the Wisconsin Dims to quit hiding, tell their union and academic thugs to go home, sit with their colleagues and vote on the legislation, as is their legal duty.
Instead, being the liar that he is, he made none of those encouragements to the Wisconsin Dims, kept publicly silent while they shirked their legislative duties, which earned them the results that Obama now blames on anyone but his Democrat and union friends, who brought it on themselves.
If JR would’ve implied that 0 was a donkey, I would’ve said that he gave donkeys a bad name. What’s wrong with that?
The beast of burden has many useful functions, most of which 0 does not possess.
The illegal alien has NO principles...oh duh...
What he really means is we all come together and do what the Democrats want.
What would a credible, Constitutional federal exercise of
the Guarantee Clause (Article IV Section 4) look like?
I very much fear the opposite from the current Occupant.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
The Fuhrer in our White House has no principles, in my opinion and the opinion of millions more. His strings are being pulled by a Kapo, IMO.
Obama’s “principles”, and I use the term loosely, are the commie Alinski perverted excuse for principles.
As Obama’s “principles” are antithetical to the Constitution, it is only right that “Obama’s principles” be violated.
(Oops, is it racist to say 'Blackhawks'?)
No such thing. Bullying someone into paying for your largess at the expense of the public good is not a right. It is a tactic and an immoral, unethical one, at that.
Good. I don't give two shits what Obama thinks about it; it's a state issue and the unions have taken advantage of and abused the taxpayers for far too long. The feds can bugger off, starting with the usurper at the top.
The WI House and Senate should additionally cut all spending 30% "across the board", if the Thugs think they are getting 'picked on'.
