We reminded them how to do just this over a week ago.

Congrats!

No they don’t. They had a quorum, which is half plus one. Only for fiscal bills did they need a larger quorum.

Ummmm. Don’t the R’s need 19 to get the collective bargaining measure to pass?

Not sure. Stand by. Maybe there was a loophole.

WOW! I can’t believe they had the guts to do this. I hope they are prepared for the union anger to come. I was looking at some sites that are union friendly and they are VERY angry. The police are union supporters as well. Who is going to protect these brave lawmakers? I am going to do some major praying for their safety.

Just saw it on Fox News’ Special Report Online Show!! :)

I think the WI House needs to pass the same collective bargaining bustin’ bill tomorrow, so expect histrionics on the part of the Left, attempts to block entry into the House chamber, bodies going limp, screaming, Hitler comparisons, etc.

But it’s basically over, and we won!

The R's took all the budget language out of the bill and left in all the collective barganing language (that the Dems so hated) in....then passed it!

Woo-Hoo!

Per fox.. The missing Dems are rushing back to Madison at this time

Cool. Seize them as they arrive in WI, chain them to the Senate floor, and then pass the original bill.

No... they needed a quorum of 20 to pass financial bills. This stripped all financial/budgetary portions.

“Ummmm. Don’t the R’s need 19 to get the collective bargaining measure to pass?”

It’s 20, but only on financials. That’s why this was stripped out. And now the bill cannot be modified, only voted up or down.

Question now is, will the RATS return and what will be the save face move?

They took out the fiscal part of the bill which means they don’t need the 20 senators to hold a vote.

They stripped the financial stuff out and passed the union busting bill by itself.

“Don’t the R’s need 19 to get the collective bargaining measure to pass?”

Not on the non-fiscal bills. My understanding is that they rewrote the collective bargaining into a new stand-alone bill and this changed the dynamics of the game.

So am I to understand that the missing dems seats were considered vacant?

That meant the vote could go forward.

All items deemed non-fiscal cut. All other items left in. There is a rumor that some fleebagers will return soon... in which case, the fiscal items will be added back. Either way, passed and signed WI will become a right to work state.

I wish they would have passed it 12-7 or something. “Too bad you weren’t there, Democrats, you could have defeated the bill.”

Thank you for moving thread back into breaking.

I screwed up on the date, though. I put 2001 instead of 2011.
