Ummmm. Don’t the R’s need 19 to get the collective bargaining measure to pass?

Not sure. Stand by. Maybe there was a loophole.

They took out the fiscal part of the bill which means they don’t need the 20 senators to hold a vote.

Only fiscal bills need a 20 member quorum.

I can’t believe the Democrats are so stupid to let the nation become fully aware of union thuggery in Wisconsin by leaving vs losing a vote.

But then I am not a leftist.

My understanding is that the provision scraping collective bargaining on benefits is technically not “fiscal” and thus can be passed with a bare majority to make the quorum. The directly fiscal stuff, e.g., greater contributions by government workers to health plans, etc., need at least 1 Dem to make the quorum.

Quorum for non-budgetary items was already met. Once the quorum is established, they only need over half of the votes of the present members. If you weren’t there, you just missed the vote.
