i read thru the comments so far.. and i'm left wondering... wtf is wrong with you people? is this DU or FR?

from the article:
Cap'n Crunch was once the No. 1 breakfast cereal, but pressure from the White House and health activists is having an effect on how PepsiCo and other food companies peddle their products to kids.

it's being discontinued NOT because of poor sales... but POLITICS. pure nanny state. and you people are ok with this?

you call yourselves freepers?!

All for Michelle. The FLOTUS' pantry is probably overflowing with the little sugar blobs. The White Hut can then rename the cereal Cap'n Caboose, after the horder-in-chief herself. You, OTOH, need to cut back.

I’m sure the health activists and the White House mean well, but we all know what is paved with good intentions. This story reminds me of the candy cigarettes and cigars I used to partake of as a child. They were supposed to be bad influences on kids, and are no longer allowed, but they never caused me to want to use tobacco. Good parenting renders a nanny state unnecessary. Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad parents running around.

I agree. Nannystatism at it's worst!! White House??? Health Activists? Let me guess, Center for Science in the "Public Interest?" The popcorn butter nutcases? The hot dog nutcases? and on and on and on!

Jobs are obviously unimportant. DADT, Wis Union Jobs, DOMA Appeal, AZ immigration appeal, now THESE are important issues. The economy is so passe and old hat nowadays under this administration.

PepsiCo is no longer marketing Cap’n Crunch cereal directly to children. In a sense, you could say that they have retired Cap’n Crunch, and that’s a good thing,” Jennifer Harris, of the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at Yale University, told DailyFinance. “Unfortunately, children continue to view hundreds of ads per year for high-sugar cereals from General Mills, Kellogg’s and Post Foods.”

My question is what does “no longer marketing...directly to children” EVEN MEAN? Are they truly STOPPING THE MANUFACTURER OF IT, or just not marketing it? I am confused. As an adult I am really sick of the NANNY state telling companies what soup and what cereal they can manufacturer. Like all things, children or adults having a bowl of Capt’n Crunch once in a while is the LEAST of the problems facing our nation and the LEAST of the problems this overreaching government should be involving itself with!!!! :(
