WASHINGTON, D.C., March 9, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a 44-56 vote, the U.S. Senate has voted against a budget bill crafted by House Republicans that would have eliminated federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

The Democrat-led Senate also failed to pass its own budget bill, which contained much fewer spending cuts and maintained the abortion giant’s funding.

The vote marks the first stage of what promises to be a drawn-out battle between two opposite visions for the 2011 fiscal year, as well as between pro-life and pro-abortion forces fiercely gunning for or against the amendment de-funding Planned Parenthood.

President Obama has promised to veto the House version as it stands.

I think Stabenow killed her chances of re-election when she voted for the DREAM Act.

It should definitely be a campaign issue...seeing as she basically won her seat by accusing her opponent(Spencer Abraham)of costing American's jobs by introducing an expanded H1B Visa program.

...yet another dem... talking out of both sides of their face...

The governor should still pink slip those 1500 state workers.

if they can’t suspend union dues collections,
then fire the union members.

that is 1500 fewer dues paying members.

...what Reid has being doing is to take a House bill that he doesn’t want to take up in the Senate, gut the bill of all text, then add the text he wants to add for a revenue bill. That’s the bill that gets voted on in the Senate...

Of course! Now there are NO vehicles for that to happen, and our guys were telling the absolute, stone-cold truth. Now they're playing chicken with Reid on the shutdown: if no CR or budget is passed, then it's Reid and Obama who are forcing the government to close the Washington Monument. High stakes stuff, and risky, considering the sheeple who believe the big media lies.

Exactly.

I listened to Roy Beck's reaction on the Numbers USA live-feed after the Senate voted down cloture during the lame duck session of Congress, and he was ticked off.

We need to galvanize that sense of anger and betrayal and find a capable opponent to defeat her, and not an open borders RINO like Abraham.

I don’t understand this bill. You don’t legislate against a company, you legislate against an activity. I am very, very pro-life and I cannot see how congress can vote to defund Planned Parenthood. It sounds very illegal.

Now you could vote to defund any entity that receives more than X% of its income from abortion, for example.

I have no problems with any Republicans who opposed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.

Just ban it now, and come into compliance with the imperative requirement of the oath of office.

"No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."

"No State shall deprive any person of life without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
