Just as Nazism and communism were the totalitarianisms of the twentieth century, Islamism and globalism are the totalitarianisms of the twenty-first, Ms. Le Pen believes. This philosophy has real PR potential, IMO.
I've always believed Europe will turn away from international leftism, and when it does, it will be in the blink of an eye.

So Sarkozy has called for a debate on Islam. But this has not satisfied his voters. I attended a magazine editorial board meeting in Paris in February and found the editors in agreement that such a debate would do Sarkozy no good. The only place this debate can wind up is with platitudes like Ninety-nine percent of our Muslim fellow-citizens are good Frenchmen, and so on, said one of the editors present. It cannot wind up making contact with anything real. Seems not to be very unique for the French..

Just as Nazism and communism were the totalitarianisms of the twentieth century, Islamism and globalism are the totalitarianisms of the twenty-first, Ms. Le Pen believes. France needs to reexamine its membership in the European Union (which has robbed great nations of their sovereignty and saddled them with an unworkable currency) and in NATO (which has subordinated the countrys foreign policy interests to those of the United States), and it should not make a dogma of free trade. This identity-killing globalization, she said at Tours, has turned into an economic horror, a social tsunami, a moral Chernobyl.
Le Pen for president, 2012.

Based on the article, I am happy to see that LePen is not her father. There may be hope for Europe, yet.

There maybe some unpleasantness in the NF’s past and present, but note to the libs at the WS, “The Blank Slate Theory is bunk and it is hitting the wall of reality at full speed these days.”

I don’t get that.
She is his youngest daughter, no?
Or did you mean in a political/spiritual sense?

BTW.
I really recommend “Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam, and the West” by Caldwell.
Pretty much the definite work on the issue so far.

I have no issue with international trade between equals. An American lawyer should be able to drive a BMW to work and a German banker should be able to ride a Harley on the Autobahn. I take exception to the idea that first world workers - whether they are French or American - should have to compete with disposable slave labor in fascist countries of the third world.
To: Eurotwit
that detailed explanation of the French electoral system certainly explains why they are so screwed-up
To: Yet_Again
I agree with you.
Personally I was educated in America and Australia. Travelled much of the world. Heck, I even participate on the best American political discussion forum there is :D
I think the main drawback of globalisation is the loss of national sovereignty. When a nation loses control of its borders and who by right are citizens - The nation is longer a nation as such.
Heck, I even agree with the socialist critique that most Rockefeller republicans who support globalisation/NAFTA whatnot does so only because it is an attack on workers and wage levels. And a boon to corporate profit levels.
I am an economist and former strategic consultant, but I do not worship corporations. Make a corporation large and powerful enough, give it a monopoly and it is just as bad as any government bureaucracy.
The secret is freedom and competition - not being an incorporated entity.
Cheers.

Marine Le Pen could well be France’s first woman president particularly if the FN takes a hard stance on Islamization. I was in Paris shortly after the first Islamic riots in 2005 and the local French people I talked to were hoping Sarkozy would take a very hard line on the rioters. I think he lost a lot of support when the riots only got worse. A terrorist attack in France by Islamic jihadists could sway voters toward the FN especially if Le Pen calls for a crack down on Islamic radicals in France.

The article seems pretty fair, but slightly distorted by a long-standing media bias; one that looks for flaws in Nationalistic movements, because of what might be called Leftist seepage from the cultural bias of those in Academia & visual entertainment (such as movies with their usual Leftist stereotypes of the Right).
I was in Paris during the 2002 campaign, for about 9 days, and can attest that the "fascistic" behavior was all from the Anti-Le Pen folks. Nor was Le Pen's campaign like any of the other stereotypes, which the media offered.
The plight of Europe, today, is basically desperate--just as the plight of California, today. One can only pray that the influence of those willing to stand up for the preservation of their respective nations continues to grow--both here and there.
