Coverage for MARRIED children under 26 required by O-care
PA TOWNSHIP NEWS | March 2011

Posted on 03/08/2011 9:42:33 AM PST by finnsheep

In answer to a question on p. 98 in the current issue of the PA Township News: "The health care reform law requires all insurance plans that include dependent coverage to extend those benefits to all children up to age 26. Therefore, if the township offers dependent coverage to its employees and the child is 26 or younger, he is entitled to the benefits regardless of his marital status or student status.

In addition, an adult child qualifies for coverage even if he doesn't live with the covered parent, is not considered a dependent by the IRS, and is not enrolled in school full-time.

On the bright side, that 26 yr old’s spouse is not entitled to be on your policy. At least not yet...

(I am trying to picture Archie Bunker living through that situation...)

I despise Obamacare with my entire being, but is it really saying that you are FORCED to pay for your child’s insurance

I was wondering that myself... are parents being forced into this?

I didn't know it was possible to be an adult and a child at the same time.

Washington DC is full of them.

I'm sure there is required coverage for the "domestic partners" of children under 26 even if the domestic partner is 46.

Apparently people are just now getting around to reading this thing.

Yes, this is the Federal law.

It was Republicans who forced the removal of the act of marriage as a “life event” that would end eligibility under the parent(s) dependent care health insurance.

Any "family" insurance policy must cover children up to the age of 26. If you don't want to pay for your child's insurance, I assume you can get "single" or "couple" coverage.

That is not what our agent said. Our over-18 child had to be enrolled in a school in order to qualify. My friend has a mentally ill older daughter (I think she is 21 or 22) whom she could not cover.

This thing is so damned fraudulent. Telling everyone that they don’t know what’s in it until after it’s passed is beyond dishonesty. And the media not doing anything about that, not reporting on it at the time, makes them beyond irrelevance.

This p’s me O so very much that I want to gulag the entire group right before I Marie Antoinette them.

It’s criminal. It’s depraved. It’s totally depraved, the worst that John Calvin could imagine. It’s demonic.
