Interesting that CNN leaves out the rest of the story. From a Portland TV station:

He [Chapek] was taken to the Multnomah County Jail on suspicion of criminal trespassing and was released on his own recognizance. Police said Chapek has an extensive criminal history.

So this guy is free to walk the streets and do it again. It is time for homeowners to be prepared to take action when the "authorities" won't.
