Iran is mass producing a new ballistic missile which can travel at more than three times the speed of sound and hit targets on the high seas, top commanders said on Monday.
Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari, who heads the elite military force, the Revolutionary Guards, said the missile named Persian Gulf had a range of 300 kilometres (185 miles).
Iran is mass producing a smart ballistic missile for sea targets with a speed three times more than the speed of sound, state news agency IRNA quoted Jafari as saying about the new missile.

Mass producing or mass buying?
I doubt Iran has the sophistication to actually produce these. It would seem more realistic that Russia or China is producing them.
It is possible that Iran might be buying the parts from China or Russia and assembling the torpedoes in Iran.

They’re so fast they get there before they’re launched.

NEVER doubt the ability of our enemies when it comes to producing weapons. We have made that mistake too many times at too many lives.
To: Perdogg
Ahh.
Still, those torpedoes wouldn’t really have much value because, if the United States did attack, it would be by the air, not the sea.

, it would be by the air, not the sea. Umm, those planes would most likely be coming from the US Navy carriers. Last time I checked those were ships.

We have land bases in many places all around Iran's perimeter.
And aircraft that can fly in from even greater distances.

Sure.
500 miles out at sea, which would allow the US to bomb any ships leaving Iran or sink any subs that try to leave.

I doubt Iran has the sophistication to actually produce these. It would seem more realistic that Russia or China is producing them. The Clinton Legacy continues to contribute to our demise.

Folks underestimate the Iranian threat at our peril. And if you think the Pak's or the Afghans are going to let their territory be used to launch attacks on another muslim country, you're wrong.

I’m not saying underestimate them. I’m saying don’t overestimate them.
Reality-based foreign policy. What a concept.

Reality-based foreign policy. We haven't had that since the Jefferson Administration.

Isn’t that a coincidence! They are making anti-ship missiles and we have anti-Iran missiles. !

We have land bases in many places all around Iran’s perimeter.
That’s not going to prevent one or more of our warships from being lost. And that could include an Aircraft Carrier.
