Aloha again Night Owl!
A couple weeks ago there was a item that magma had risen and inflated Kilauea volcano at the top, at Halemaumau crater.
It subsided but caused a collapse at the top and all that magma went down to Pu'u O'o and then down a lava tube.....which also collapsed causing the latest spectacular eruption.
Kilauea is the top, Pu'u O'o is a vent and the lava tube from it was a underground conduit down slope where the lava would flow into the sea. The news services are ecstatic to have film of a fiery eruption instead of steam rising from the shore.
Madame Pele is just having a little conniption fit...not a full blown rage.

I have been on Old Ironsides many times, The Battleship Massachusetts(berthed in Fall River at Battleship Cove), The USS Bowfin(Sub), The Battleship Missouri, and The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, A Heavy Cruiser in Quincy MA, and numerous other smaller ships when they were open to the public! A Friend of mine scuba dived Bikini Atoll to explore the ships that were sunk by the H-Bomb tests! It is now permitted, but a little too weird for my taste! (LOL)

Wow...that’s awesome! I have been on the battleships Texas and Alabama, but not any of the tall ships. I would love to go to Hawaii to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. Maybe some day......

Great thread, Galz! I love those beautiful ships! I am glad they have been preserved so we can know more about the men (and now women) who fought to free us from tyranny all those years ago and to keep us free ever since!

Right across from the USS Arizona memorial is Big Mo (The USS Missouri). It is berthed at Ford Island. One can stand on the deck of the Missouri and gave across the water to the Arizona. The Sub USS Bowfin is located right next to the Pearl harbor Visitors center.
My Daddy was a big Navy man, and since we lived in Boston, I practically LIVED of the USS Constitution. Also, my Motorcycle Club had their group photo done in front of Old Ironsides. That was the day I took a NATO sailor all over Boston on the back of my Harley. I didn’t realize that he did not have permission to leave the Belgian ship! We were gone for three hours (there’s so much Boston to see!) and the other club members had to distract and appease the captain by taking him for a motorcycle ride, to keep the poor boy out of trouble! (I was SOOOOOO BAAADDD!!!!)

I saw the news about that and thought of you, Big Guy! :)

Well the “new” Constellation is a great way to spend some time at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. If anyone is going to be in the area I highly recommend it. The USS Torsk is also there, late WWII sub, served well into the cold war. The 2 combined make for a well spent $12, my kids and I loved them.

Aloha West Texas Rose!
Don't fret over this event, it's miles away and there's hardly anything left out there after 28 years of lava flows......except tourists and news people.

Snow’s gone. Had a bit of rain. Got warmer, but now it’s back to seasonal.

Well, it did look fairly remote, but was curious about the location. It was very dramatic when I saw it on FoxNews this morning! :)
