There may come a time when the taxpayer just simply refuses to pay anymore.

When that time comes I wonder what the lawyers will do. Sue?

Attorneys are already preparing lawsuits challenging Gov. Jerry Brown's proposals on the grounds that they violate voter-passed constitutional amendments and long-standing state laws.

Which of course makes the case for allowing states to declare bankruptcy. A state can always repeal laws which obligate it to pay for a particular program, but getting out of a state constitutional amendment is a little more tricky.

Advocates for developmentally disabled people said they believe Brown's proposed cuts...violate 1969 Lanterman Act requirements for state care for people with such disabilities.

Proposed statewide purchase-of-service standards, in particular, conflict with the Lanterman Act's requirement that people receive tailored, specialized care, advocates said.

And, as we all know, "tailored, specialized care" doesn't come cheap.

I see now that there's only one way to ensure the happiness and prosperity of all Californians.

Simply increase spending, create more entitlements, and throw more money at existing government programs.

How come no one thought of this sooner?

“Advocates for developmentally disabled people said they believe Brown's proposed cuts...violate 1969 Lanterman Act requirements for state care for people with such disabilities.”

Aren't these the people who should be helped by government because many are incapable of providing for themselves? Surely since California has 30% of the countries welfare burden and most of the illegal aliens we can find other places to cut.

Chalk up astronomical legal expenses and trial costs for CA. Another reason we need loser pays.

Progressive lawyers are smart, intelligent, really really
bright, extremely brilliant geniuses who know everything that is good for humanity, so shut the heck up, be good boys and girls, pay the money that is demanded “for the children” and forever pay homage to the unions and their brilliant, really really smart, intelligent-genius members.

You can leave California and be happier than ever. I know. I did it. The gross pay may be less but the lower cost of living in all the surrounding States more than makes up for it. It is possible. You can do it. Why support such evil and corruption?
