Talk about conspicuous consumption.

Personally I see no problem at all if rich people want to pay a lot of money for their public school system.

That’s why local control of schools is so important.

Despicable, just despicable. I wonder how much time this woman has actually spent in a CLASSROOM.

And this is equally stupid. A gym teacher makes more than an ENGLISH TEACHER???

$145,114: Dean Strohmayer, gym teacher
$129,818: Jeffrey Rozran, English teacher

THIS is what unions and collective bargaining are all about.

The joke is on you taxpayers! Ha-ha-ha! Even if you fire me, I will still be taking home in retirement close to $500,000. Ha-ha-ha! Pay me, I'm worth it!

Nachum, I was going to go through this piece by piece, then decided against it. I would have to be an accounting firm.

I will ask about this however:

After state taxpayers kick in about $10 million, the district's $188.8 million budget is bankrolled by local taxes.

A Syosset resident with a $962,000 home pays more than $23,000 in taxes -- including $16,500 for schools alone.

Residents and parents are fed up.

Residents and parents are fed up? Don't they elect school board members? Who sets these salaries? I'm at a loss for words, and that doesn't happen often.

This comment under the article is priceless:

I sat next to Hankin at a dinner party a few months ago. She relentlessly dropped the names of her important friends and talked abut her opulent lifestyle. She bragged to me, within a few minutes of meeting her, that she would have had a major appointment if Hillary had been elected.

I asked her if not living in her district was a problem, she answered no, it wasn't, because Syosset is equidistant between hew homes in Purchase and West Hampton, and besides, "I have a driver."

I didn't bother to explain that I had meant to ask whether it was a problem for her DISTRICT.

I then told her I had been working hard in my own school district to rein in the fiscal excesses. She responded that "you can't pay teachers enough."

Then, reaching for the award of the all-time worst dinner companion, she said, "People like you are ruining this country."
