The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirms that's how much the average Milwaukee teacher will be paid in salary and benefits in 2011: the average MPS teacher would receive total compensation of $101,091 -- $59,500 in salary and $41,591 in benefits. We double-checked with MPS spokeswoman Roseann St. Aubin and she confirmed the figures. We wanted to compare the $101,091 for MPS teachers to other teachers, but the latest figurescompiled by the state Department of Public Instruction are for 2009-2010, two years earlier. Those figures show for 2009-2010, MPS teachers earned, on average

I am in the wrong profession.
Must get teaching degree.
$49,000 per/year in GD BENEFITS?! I hope those teachers choke on it. (pc off)
That's rich. A government employees union bitching about a private company receiving taxpayer dollars.
Could we be in for a turf war to see who can shakedown taxpayers even more than we already are?
They’re just jealous.
I think I read somewhere that they are forced to buy health insurance from the union at $20K a pop. Of course, the taxpayers actually pay that and I'm sure at $20K for healthcare there is some SERIOUS palm greasing, graft and corruption up and down the union chain of command.
Of course if I'm wrong I, too, would like to see where the $41K figure for benefits comes from.
Like the old saying...Those who can, do. Those who cant, screw the rest of us...
Your from Florida. You don’t pay for these teachers. Nice post though.
everyone in the country pays for those teachers... as we all pay federal taxes.
any money coming from the state to the teachers, is less money the state has to pay for its obligations. the state goes to the fed for any money it doesn’t have
When DumBO complained that Wisconsin was attacking unions and comparing public employees to friends and neighbors, he did not make it a point to compare taxpayers to friends and neighbors. He should stop reading “The Communist Manifesto” and start reading “The Forgotten Man.” Paul does put his hand in Peter’s pocket if they are friends. Friends will help friends.
And summers off too.
I was particularly "humored" at the figure of 136k a year for barbering/cosmotology instructor at a tech school.....and I would imagine that figure does not reflect the entire compensation costs...
Makes you wonder what the $40k in benefits are for?
I have read in other articles that health insurance purchased from the Wisconsin Teachers Union is around $22,000 per average teacher per year.
I have also read that when some Wisconsin School Districts quit buying Wisconsin Teachers Union health insurance there insurance costs dropped $5000 per year per teacher.
Use your imagination to see that Wisconsin Teachers Union health insurance is a major cash cow for the unions and for the Democrats!!!!
These arguments are all wrong. The real issue is: who pays for the viagra?
Imagine what all the paper pushers make! In moat school districts they outnumber teachers. That’s the other dirty secret. All the rentseekers living fat pushing papers. In most school districts the payroll for non-teachers is greater than the payroll for teachers.
AND THIS IS FOR 9 MONTHS OF WORK!!!
