He’s taken a couple of shots at her in the past, all of which went ignored, but I guess the latest iteration of “she needs to be less scripted” finally demanded a response. Ace’s co-blogger, DrewM, makes a nice point: Her critique of Christie on spending at the beginning here is actually a non sequitur vis-a-vis the question she’s being asked. David Asman mentions Christie but all he wants to know is if, unlike him, she finds anyone in the field inspiring. To which she responds by … comparing their records on spending, forcing Asman to repeat the question when she’s done. Says Drew, “She came prepared to smack him.” Indeed.
It’s a tragedy that the two of them won’t both be running next year. That primary war would be so epic, you’d need a Greek poet to blog it. As it is, politicos watch and wait breathlessly for his reply. Exit question: How is it that a Republican governor in a deeply Democratic state like Jersey is showing little courage by tackling unions and pension reform? The government may be broke, but Christie theoretically could go the Democratic route and push tax hikes or float bonds rather than demand cuts. And why do we assume that he’d have done differently than Palin did if he had the chance to govern a state — a red state, where he has an electoral advantage — with a surplus? He didn’t make the mess but he’s trying to clean it up, even though Jersey’s liberal voters might very well end up punishing him for it. Click the image on above link to watch.
It’s a good point. Even a few dem governors are trying to cut budgets now.
It looks like Reagan's 11th commandment has been discarded even when a Republican does the right thing.
Guts? Don’t think so. He is a hard nosed SOB living up to his rep.
If Palin wants to criticize our Governor, there are plenty of places to do so. I would start with his support for "cap and trade" (RGGI) and his kissing up to militant Muslims.
ML/NJ
It’s not courageous to sell out the First Amendment, either.
Get bent.
Sounds like Palin is chumming...
Caution - newbie/RINO troll alert!
It’s like this. Christie is TIGHT with Romney. Romney NEEDS Sarah out of the way. Christie, ever Romney’s errand boy, has taken SEVERAL shots at Sarah in recent weeks. Now, Sarah has just fired a shot back over his (rather rotund) bow.
First, he deserved it. Second, he’s a [REAL BIG] boy - he can handle it. Don’t expect the “Mormon Mogul” to come out and do his own dirty work — he’ll scuff up his manicure. And besides, Sarah-”Cuda” could take him. Furthermore, don’t expect the Palin-Haters to give her props no matter WHAT she does. Most of them hate her more than they like anyone else.
Sarah, however, continues to appear more confident, more impressive and more prepared each and everytime I see her in interviews. Yesterday with David Asmin, and with Bill O’Reilly (who isn’t particularly keen on Sarah) she handled herself quite well. She’s looking quite — well — presidential. :-) I know that just makes the bladders of the Sarah-haters quiver and quake.
keep the attacks aimed at Obama, dont get distracted.
Not with the gusto Christie has; NY’s governor, while proposing cuts, is fighting the NYC governor in eliminating Last In First Out (they are both flaming liberals, but the NYC mayor knows the best teachers aren’t necessarily retained under that system and they cost a lot more).
Whatever criticisms people have for Christie, he has done the unthinkable in NJ in terms of attacking our property tax problem (highest in the nation, or close to it) at the core. Palin dealt with a state that had a population that was a fraction of NJ’s, with little relation to many other states. I like both of them, would vote for either of them, but Palin shouldn’t be dismissive of what Christie has done.
There is something really wrong with having to take shots at politicians when they are doing the right thing.
If any of them assume she will be a pushover they will learn otherwise.
Funny and rather odd for someone who resigned her governorship to be making snarky comments at a governor in her own party who has been on the front lines and making a tremendous difference. Chumming alright, in that circular motion...
Christie HAS done OVERTLY great things with the vile, corrupt teacher’s union. But he’s soft on Obamacare and REALLY wimpy on the 2nd Amendment. He likes to take weak pot-shots at Sarah because he is primairly ego driven.
