Arid Uka, the 21-year-old man suspected of killing two American airmen this week, has told investigators that he was seeking revenge for the deployment of Americans in Afghanistan after watching radical Islamist videos on the Internet, German authorities said Friday.

Not trusting the NYT, I checked this out with several sources, and it appears to be true. He did say it was about Afghanistan.

I don't think Mark Steyn’s take on this can be bettered:

“....A decade on, Kosovo is a sorta sovereign state, and in Frankfurt a young airport employee is so grateful for what America did for his people that he guns down U.S. servicemen while yelling “Allahu akbar!”

The strange shrunken spectator who serves as President of the United States, offering what he called “a few words about the tragic event that took place,” announced that he was “saddened,” and expressed his “gratitude for the service of those who were lost” and would “spare no effort” to “work with the German authorities” but it was a “stark reminder” of the “extraordinary sacrifices that our men and women in uniform are making . . .”

The passivity of these remarks is very telling. Men and women “in uniform” (which it's not clear these airmen were even wearing) understand they may be called upon to make “extraordinary sacrifices” in battle. They do not expect to be “lost” on the shuttle bus at the hands of a civilian employee at a passenger air terminal in an allied nation.

But then I don't suppose their comrades expected to be “lost” at the hands of an army major at Fort Hood, to cite the last “tragic event” that “took place” — which seems to be the president's preferred euphemism for a guy opening fire while screaming “Allahu akbar!”

If the Germans continue to get the Truth out, they’d better watch out. Obummer will be mad! “We don’t want the American people to know .... Kill this story!”

The real puzzle here for the German investigators is the way he went about the killings.

He clicked off two rounds to the head, execution style, on all of his victims as he got on the bus and walked down the aisle in the manner of a coldblooded professional.

He had bought the gun illegally in Belgium (1000 euros) a few months ago and claims he never practiced or even fired it.

The presumption at this time is that he acted alone, without influence from any behind the scenes terror organizations, through a process of 'sudden jihadism' incited by the internet.

The manner of his executions doesn't fit that theory. It's 'the dog that didn't bark' in this tragedy.

Obama's reaction -- or non-reaction -- is because he doesn't want to draw anymore negative attention to the Frankenstein creation called an independent Albanian "Kosovo". Between 4 of the Fort Dix 6 being Kosovo Albanians, the Serbs getting chopped up by the KLA to sell their body parts, the Maryland Kosovo Albanian terrorist sentenced last week and now this, Kosovo recognitions have dried up, with some countries even suggesting withdrawal of recognition. In short, their Kosovo policy (initiated under Clinton) is proving to be a disaster, so they don't want to call anymore attention than necessary and they sure don't want to call it "terrorism" after having sold us the propaganda that Kosovo Albanians are only "mildly Muslim".

Serbia isn’t much of a step up from Kosovo in terms of how they ran their country, there is reasons why we had such incidents across Yugoslavia.

As for Albanians and their “gratitude”.....God save us all from people with this attitude because otherwise we are all going to find ourselves in the midst of a modern Golgotha.

Serbia didn't have to have saints in it or running it, for it to have been a HUGE mistake for us to champion the Bosnian Muslims and Albanian Muslims against the Serbs. We had no damn interests there, we had no reason to get involved, except a huge propaganda effort to suck us in. And we fell for it. Now we are paying the price.
