All Amazon need do is post on it’s website:
“Sorry. We cannot ship to California. These are the names of the legislators who support taxing mail order:

...”

They will still ship to California - they will just not have any books purchased on Amazon come from California book stores. Thus no CA sales tax - because they wanted MORE tax.
It is like killing the goose laying the golden egg because she wasn’t laying silver and platinum ones as well.
