ATF Let Hundreds of U.S. Weapons Fall into Hands of Suspected Mexican Gunrunners
The Center for Public Integrity ^ | March 03, 2011 | John Solomon and David Heath and Gordon Witkin

Posted on 03/03/2011 7:51:53 PM PST by Typical_Whitey

Hoping to score a major prosecution of Mexican drug lords, federal prosecutors and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives permitted hundreds of guns to be purchased and retained by suspected straw buyers with the expectation they might cross the border and even be used in crimes while the case was being built, according to documents and interviews.

The decision — part of a Phoenix-based operation code named “Fast and Furious” — was met by strong objections from some front-line agents who feared they were allowing weapons like AK-47s to “walk” into the hands of drug lords and gun runners, internal agency memos show. Indeed, scores of the weapons came back quickly traced to criminal activity.

According to the article these arms deals happened in 2009 and 2010, this is an Obama admin program, designed and implemented by the idiots that work for Napolitano and Eric Holder. Both should be up on Capitol Hill testifying about this idiotic program, who was accountable and both should be tendering their registrations as soon as possible. So now we have to worry about Al-Qaeda getting U.S. weapons given to the the drug dealers by our own govt and crossing into the USA and using said weapons in terrorist attacks against our own citizens..... A new level of incompetence tax payers pay for the very weapons used to terrorize them and people wonder why this country is on the verge of bankruptcy.... Please America put some adults in charge before its too late.

I suspect that, if this is fully investigated, it will be found that ATF funded and motivated the straw purchasers right for the start of the operation. The straw purchasers probably were dupes convinced the boss was just a money guy criminal out for a profit, but he was ATF.

Even mainstream is picking it up

Could this be an attempt by the Obama regime to build support for the UN gun ban treaty?

Remember Hillary’s trip to Mexico and made those claims about our guns going there...

This has Hillary and Holder written all over it.

Perfect example of progressive thinking...the exact opposite of what you tell people is going to happen actually happens.

And to top it off we order our border agents to engage the enemy with bean bags...

Really...you can’t make this stuff up!

What else is new?

What’s new is that finally the lawlessness of the BATFags is coming to public light in a way that CANNOT be simply ignored, as was Waco and Ruby Ridge. Not to mention thousands of other incidents of terroristic behaviors, railroading innocent folks into prison, stomping folks’ pets to death, causing pregnant women to miscarry, and, in general, behaving as one might expect an outfit run by Hugo Chavez or Qadaffi or the Ayatolla Komeini would: with utter disdain for the Constitution, the law or any limitations one could possibly imagine on their authority. And they got away with it for decades, just as the IRS does: because THEIR agenda meshes neatly with that of the other big government totalitarian types in Congress and the Executive. There are a FEW agents who want to do right, but they cannot, because the entire premise of the “firearms and explosives” in their charter violates the most fundamental tenets of the Constitution. For one recent example, Google “Olofson and BATFE.”

I just took your suggestion. What a disgusting abuse of power going right on up to the SCOTUS.

You are absolutely 10,000% on the money! Words cannot even begin to express my loathing and disgust for these BATFags and their enablers in all three branches of FedGov.

Well, that right there. Where are these referred to "front line agents" ? Surely they should resign forthwith and stand up publicly for right and sanity.

Probably don't want their families murdered by their bosses.

You familiar with BATF Agent Larry Shears and his court testimony regarding BATF involvement in political assassinations?

It is long past time to de-fund and disband the BATFE. It is long past time to de-fund and disband almost all of the alphabet agencies of the federal government.

If the Waco investigation hadn't been clouded over by the OK City Bombing (Another blown sting with shadow muslim involvement?) perhaps some housecleaning could have been done.

IMHO, BATF should have been dismantled after Waco.

Don’t like to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but....

So these wepons are being purchased here in the US by a ‘straw’ buyer, and shipped into Mexico, apparently while the ATF agents keep eyes averted. The carnage created by the presence of these weapons flowing so freely into the hands of the drug cartels, causes the population of Mexico, already gripped by fear, to consider the dangers of crossing into the US as being the lesser of two threats, and they flee, ultimately to claim sanctuary on the basis of personal danger, that they are refugees, and not merely illegal entrants.

Only, these weapons are now showing up as the means of assault upon the US Border Patrol, and an open attack upon the sovereignty of the United States. And they have disrespected the diplomatic immunity of our agents while in Mexico as well.

There was an expeditionary force under General Jack Pershing that went into Mexico back before the US became involved in the First World War, that was to pursue the Mexican revolutionaries back then. Do we have to fight this war all over again, to bring the situation under control?

We are already at war with Mexico...just no one has the stones to admit it. And quite frankly there are people in this administration that would love to give Mexico a bunch of land back.

Bottom line: there only goal is to eliminate the US as a global super power and make us just another enslaved country in the UN. Easier to enslave 1 nation then to free 191 others.

BATF involvement in political assassinations???

Ed Yeah, BATF involvement in political assassinations, per sworn testimony by confidential informants, including BATF employees, to the U.S. Senate durung their 1982 hearings on ATF abuse.

Nobody you'd have ever heard of,though. An ATF hit order to ATF negotiated with Barger to "bring Cleaver home in a box," [more likely Black Panther Eldridge Cleaver, then a fugitive from arrest and assassination in Algeria rather than Beaver Cleaver] as well as testimony from ATF whistle-blower Larry Shears that the Hell's Angels had been given a contract by ATF to eliminate California Farm Worker's Union leader and pro-communist ppolitical activist Cesar Chavez: Shears announced that Barger had been contracted to kill Chavez, an assassination ordered by agribusiness magnates in the San Joaquin Valley.

Kind of makes you wonder awhat they'd have arranged for one of their real enemies, like, say, a congressman involved in trying to shut the BATF down. Especially if it was in or around the same time frame.
