UC Berkeley police arrested one of nine people who walked out on a fourth-story ledge of UC Berkeley's Wheeler Hall at around 1:45 this afternoon, protesting budget cuts to higher education and campus layoffs.
Police said the protester left the ledge and entered a classroom, but protesters claim police pulled him down.
Some of the remaining eight protesters continued to be chained to the building's stone pillars as hundreds of students gathered on the steps below shouting the now-familiar mantra, "No cuts, no fees, education must be free!"

“Jump!”
Or a earthquake.
I think now would be a good time to start power washing the buildings......a clean campus is a happy campus
Jump, you damn leftards!
Lock them out.
That would be the best prank - ever! Van Halen blasting from speakers mounted in a truck bed and spray painted bullseye targets on bed sheets staked out below the idiots.
Solution for high education costs?
Get rid of 75% of the course offerings at state universities. If the coursework isn’t in a professional track - eliminate it. No more ‘Lesbian Studies’. No more ‘Marxist Poetry’. No more ‘Earth Magic and Indigenous Peoples’. No more BA for psychology, sociology, uselessology, etc. Oh, and by the way, can 50% of the college staff (fire everybody with surnames A-N or O-Z) and support and get rid of tenure.
It’d be a start . . .
When these losers get into the job market—they will find out that NOTHING is FREE.
If they’re suicidal they can put them on a 72 hour mental health hold.
