Joe Biden can’t get anyone to name a school after him

President Obama already has seven schools around the country named after him, so you'd think Vice President Joe Biden wouldn't have a problem getting his name plastered on just one school in his home state of Delaware.

But, as ABC News' Karen Travers reports, residents in Delaware's Brandywine School District on Tuesday voted against a bid to name a newly-build elementary school after the Veep, who represented the state for 36 years in the Senate.

The move came after an anonymous website led a campaign to block the Biden name, calling it inappropriate to name a school after a sitting public official. "Biden will receive his honors in time," the site said. "Let's not make this one of them."

"President Obama already has seven schools around the country named after him"

Here in Pittsburgh, they are about to close legendary Peabody High School, famous for producing actors Gene Kelly and Frank Gorshin among others. It is going to be replaced by an "international baccalauriat academy" named after Obama. Except that the sports teams will be called "International Baccalauriat" or some such instead of Obama. The reason is obvious....to avoid headlines during football season like "North Hills Clobbers Obama" or "Obama Gets Slaughtered by West Mifflin".

I remember when that ass clown came to our hometown during the start of the 2008 campaign. The alleged reasons for picking him as VP was that he brought gravitas to the ticket and was originally from Scranton, PA, a blue collar town supposedly like our area of the state.

The local Dem office was practically begging people to take free tickets the week or so before the event was announced at the local high school gem. The local media either didn't or were not allowed to show shots of the crowd which they described as "about 500" less than 20% of the gym's capacity. The shots of the event we were allowed to see showed "about 500" people in his entourage and the "amen chorus" which travels with these candidates. OK, maybe it was "about 300". Go figure.

As for gravitas, read Biden's resume. He graduated from law school, was in private practice for a year or two and was elected to the New Castle commission where he served a year or two before being elected to the U.S. Senate at near the minimum age to serve. McCain was still a guest in the Hanoi Hilton at the time.

He was one of the most useless members of the senate and probably the dumbest until Patrica Bin Murray of Washington dislodged him from that lofty perch. Can anyone tell me how a resume like that translates into gravitas?

I saw the story yesterday about the sex toy demonstration at Northwestern University and I think that place should be renamed “Ted Kennedy U”.

President Obama already has seven schools around the country named after him.

Gag. I can’t even see the Vice President caring about having a school named after him. Most VPs don’t get things named after them. The President gets all the glory and the VP is the behind the scenes worker. I know. I know. That is the way it is supposed to be.
