Around 400 US Marines have been dispatched to a US base in Greece ahead of deployment on warships off Libya, an American military spokesman said today.
"The operation is part of forces reposition in the region... with regard to Libya," said Paul Farley, spokemsan for the US Souda base on the island of Crete.
He said the troops from North Carolina arrived at the base on Wednesday and would later join two US warships in Mediterranean.
The USS Kearsage and the USS Ponce steamed into the Mediterranean en route to Libya yesterday, the Suez Canal Authority said.
The Kearsage amphibious ready group, with about 800 marines, a fleet of helicopters and medical facilities, could support humanitarian efforts as well as military operations.

Sheesh.... What is going on in Libya is not worth putting a single marine in harms way. Let the muzzies waller in their filth.

Going in would be a seriously bad idea. Help provide humanitarian sea and air lifts of refugees to other Arab countries - yes. The average guy may just want a way out of the craziness. Anything else - no.

The punk president probably needs some semblance of a war legacy to help his chances in ‘12. Ater doing his best to channel Reagan, he's taking one from Bubba’s playbook.

Land on the shores of Tripoli with one battalion of Marines...ought to be enough!

Wow, a whole 400. That’s almost as big a force as the 500 obungle put on the Mexican border.
I pity any American in uniform with this fool in office.

two reasons:
1. For Obama to earn some Islamic respect.
2. to bring too the US a lot of Islamic 'refugees' that 'need' political asylum. We 'need' to bring in as many Muslims as Europe does.

We're not going to do anything in Libya; it's fire insurance. The Kearsage is only carrying a small battalion-sized force. The real power would be the Enterprise's carrier air wing.

I don’t know, I seem to remember a young Marine Lieutenant named Presley O’Bannon capture Tripoli a few years back with only seven Marines.
Maybe Obama is hoping that less is more...

If we send The Marines in there, the first thing that will happen is they will be attacked. Let the Libyans sort their own mess.

STAY OUT OF Libya... Wag the Dog will get our many of our Devil Dogs killed for nothing more than a temporary boost in the polls for obama... impeach the MF’er before he can order us into another war we will refuse to fight properly. Our leadership does not deserve the magnificent Military that they command.

The anti-American muzz (and the vast majority in Libya are just that) don’t even deserve our humanitarian help let alone putting the lives of our troops at risk.

Jimmy Carter’s second term - Odumbo/Soetoro needs a distraction on Friday March 4, 2011. The Supreme Court has a conference regarding Barry Soetoro (that is his legal name, there is no documentation of a legal name change to Barack Hussein Obama) eligibility to be the President.
Is not it odd all the conflict in the world and a possible Muslim will be outed as a fraud, a cheat and a con artist. Is not there is a game called Obama’s Coup 2011? wonder if this is just part of the game that Odumbo/Soetoro is acting out so he try a slip out of the country so as not to face prosecution. The guy is weasle.

Someone please explain to me why we don't just provide arms to both sides to keep them equal as long as possible. If other middle eastern muslim states want to get involved, so be it, we can give them weapons as well... In a fair market place where's there's a good war going on, nobody can beat us or our products!

Its 400 Marines. That’s only a couple of companies. My guess is that they are air wing and FSSG types to assist in helo, aid distribution and relief operations. This is no combat force IMO.
