COLUMBUS, Ohio (Reuters) Ohio joined Wisconsin on Wednesday in advancing a plan to restrict public sector unions, posing a new threat to labor union power in one of the most politically and economically important states.
The Republican-controlled Ohio state senate approved a proposal to curb the collective bargaining rights of public employees and forbid government workers from going on strike.
The vote followed the Wisconsin Assembly's approval last week of a similar proposal, which has sparked mass protests and a national debate over labor relations.
In both states, the plans still must be passed by a second chamber of the legislature and signed by the states' governors. Republicans, who have been pushing the anti-union proposals, hold the governorships and legislative majorities in both Wisconsin and Ohio.
If enacted, Ohio would become the biggest U.S. state so far to impose sweeping restrictions on public sector unions.

The rent-a-mobs will be getting spread kinda thin soon.
Mobocracy.
Where there's a craigslist...there's a way.
The money shot:
“The Wisconsin state Senate on Wednesday approved a resolution to fine the missing Democrats $100 a day for boycotting the vote, hoping to pressure the runaways into returning.”
The opposite of what the unions and dems wanted is happening; a snowball effect. The Leftist Machine does not have the resources to fight this battle on a half-dozen fronts simultaneously and the various state governments know this. The MSM and even FNC keep using footage from the height of the Wisconsin protests but all the teachers have gone back to work and from what I understand there are only a few hundred paid thugs still performing for the cameras in Madison. I get the picture from some of the guest experts on FNC that the “Fleebaggers” cannot hold out for more than a few more days. Someone is going to break ranks and come back. In Wisconsin it will only take one of them returning to make a quorum. Take it from me, this is Pickett’s Charge, Midway, Kursk, etc. From now on, it will all be downhill. They’re burning the candle at both ends and this is their last hurrah. They must know how bad they look to us ordinary voters.
So the practice run for BO ‘12 is now available for review. what has it accomplished? The Reelection campaign knows that the Left Media has fractured a bit, the Rep Governors have gotten stronger, the Union thugs are not as intimidating as possible....
The plans for ‘12 will need to become more robust, watch for another ‘Black Swan’ event in mid 2012 or so.
STRIP THEM OF THE MONEY! Make it a right to work for public employees, dues optional.
may you be correct
This is the cornerstone of the "collective bargaining rights" the union bosses are so vociferous about. This is their cash cow. Conservative and Republican teachers are forced to pay for Democrat candidates who are in the union's pockets. I am sure some liberal and moderate teachers also object to the high union dues extracted from their paychecks before they ever see them. Hard to believe but states and counties are forced (via labor contracts) to collect these dues. To perform as union dues collectors
Break this money grip and you have neutered these public sector union bosses
So far, I’m proud of John Kasich, Jon Husted, and the OH GOP. Please, guys, hang in there and this will all be over like an unpleasant root canal.
I hope you’re right. I attended a Lincoln Day Dinner a couple of weeks ago and five of our state senators/reps from my area were there talking about this. I did not sense ANY “compromise.” They were all sympathetic to the “needs” of employees and the “importance” of unions, but none seemed anywhere near ready to cave. Quite the contrary, we’ve put in at least two reps as replacements who moved the Conservative-O-Meter well toward the right over their predecessors.
“They must know how bad they look to us ordinary voters.”
They certainly are losing the average American taxpayer by so openly conspiring against him with these parasites who would bleed us dry. Some of the political talking heads were discussing how the Obama Administration felt it may have been a mistake to insert itself into the Wisconsin situation on the side of the teachers; to so openly oppose the American taxpayers, and seek to overturn the results of their recent elections (which O admitted was a shellacking), will be ammo for those seeking his ouster in 2012.
I’ve said before, and I’m more convinced every day: Barack Obama will not be the Dem candidate for president in 2012. Things that first-termers do quickly to give the voters a few years to forget before re-election time just keep coming out of this clown. A deal has already been made; there is no way the donors, or anyone else further down the ballot in ANY state, can have this Bolshevik menace at the top of the ticket.
“Break this money grip and you have neutered these public sector union bosses”
Break this money grip and the Dem party is finished; while many people think the teachers’ unions work for the Dems, Wisconsin has shown more clearly than anywhere else that the reverse is true. The Dems are the political arm of the teachers’ union, posing as representing all union labor (though the recent job losses by police and firemen, in part so that teachers may continue to receive pay raises without concessions, shows this isn’t the case).
IMO heavy Germanic populations in Wisconsin and Ohio make for more common sense. It took a while but they are revolting against the public union rackets
The Union Cabal will push for (and get) a ballot issue on for 2012, where Unionization will be a Constitutional Requirement in public jobs. This will do 2 things: get out their usual compliment of bluecollar workers, energize "the little people", and a massive GOTV campaign will be ACORN-like pushed.
Fortunately, the Secretary of State placements that they had in their previous project has come apart, and with Republican SOS's in many more States, they will have a more-difficult time with election fraud like in 2000, 2004, and 2008.
I think We The People have FINALLY been crapped on enough to have started to recognize what is going on with the Progressive Agenda, and are going to gut their money-machine of Taxpayer money used to buy favoritism.
Let's hope so, anyway.
The way to restrict Union is to stop allowing them to make political contributions.

Organized labor is spending a lot of money fighting these battles right now. Every dollar they spend now is one dollar they can't spend in the 2012 election cycle.
“The rent-a-mobs will be getting spread kinda thin soon.”
That’s part of the plan Sparky. Reverse Cloward-Piven the bastards and spread their resources to the collapsing point by forcing them to engage in multiple battles at the same time. Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Florida, Maine, Tennessee and Missouri. Maybe even Michigan.
They hate it when you use their tactics on them.
“Reverse Cloward-Piven the bastards and spread their resources to the collapsing point by forcing them to engage in multiple battles at the same time.”
Straining the enemy’s resources was used effectively by the Founders against the Tories and the British Crown. The Founders correctly surmised that the Crown didn’t have the resources or manpower to extinguish 1,000 brushfires. Tamp out one fire and 10 more start elsewhere.
Because we now control 26 state legislatures, patriots can exhaust the manpower and resources of the criminal fascist syndicate occupying Washington.
I agree with you. This is a battle we can win.
Obama has created the perfect storm, he has the unions tearing up States, he has the border left open to the durg thugs, he has threatened lawsuits to Arizona, Texas is a mess on their border, his foreign policies are at best, indifferent and his dislike of England has left deep wounds there as well as his “concern” over the mistreatment of terrorists. He has violated the Constitution, laughed at Republican ideas and legislation. His DOMA is a disgrace and very anarchistic, his health care is a joke. I know this is a run on group of sentences but his total denial of drilling in Alaska and the Gulf have made him the number one enemy of the United States. How much more of this punk are we going to stand for?
