Obama: "I think the American people are united in expressing our service to those who were lost." What the heck does: "our service to those who were lost" mean? Is he trying to say "our sympathies to the families of the servicemen who were lost"? His statement makes no sense to me.

It sounds to me like the teleprompter said or was supposed to say something like "our sympathies to those lost servicemen" and something or somebody messed up.
