State probes religious foster care agencies over discrimination
Chicago Tribune ^ | March 1, 2011 | By Manya A. Brachear, Tribune reporter

State officials are investigating whether religious agencies that receive public funds to license foster care parents are breaking anti-discrimination laws if they turn away openly gay parents.

If they are found in violation, Lutheran Child and Family Services, Catholic Charities in five regions and the Evangelical Child and Family Agency will have to license openly gay foster parents or lose millions of state dollars, potentially disrupting more than 3,000 foster children in their care.

Though Illinois legislators championing the civil union bill earlier this year insisted that religious institutions would not be forced to bless same-sex unions, it said nothing about same-sex parents.

Now, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Gov. Pat Quinn's legal team and the Department of Children and Family Services are carefully researching the Illinois Human Rights Act, the Civil Union Act and the Illinois Constitution to determine whether they prohibit agencies from considering sexual orientation as a factor in foster care and adoption. In Illinois, all adults who adopt or become foster care providers must obtain foster care licenses.

A few weeks ago Governor Quinn signed off on the "Illinois Religious Freedom Protection and Civil Union Act". It goes into effect on June 1st. True to form, the liberals gave the act a nice sounding name as though they were going to "protect" Christians. But, of course, they're not even waiting until June to bring out the knives.

Madigan is one of the worst. Heard her rant on “discrimination”, she’s obviously a deranged ideologue of the first order.

WA state discontinued the use of Christian foster care programs due to the fact that they rejected gays as potential foster parents. The last that I heard, the state was reconsidering that decision because they need foster parents badly and gays that want to be foster parents can do it through the state.

When I was in the military, a doctor Ganeral type gave a talk during which he said, “The human body was not designed for that type of activity.” So ........

there you have it. From a scientific viewpoint.

I think we have crossed the Rubicon.

It is now illegal to keep kids away from people that engage in what has ALWAYS been recognized as deviant behavior.

It is not legal to allow practicing Christians to keep the same kids.

I didn’t know about it either, but a few years ago, I met a young man who worked for a religious social agency that used to do foster care, contracted through the state and he told me about it. He said that they were hopeful that the state would reconsider.

Many dioceses are leaving or considering leaving the adoption business because of this; they can be no part of it. The freaks want to chip away at speech they find “offensive”, as well as policies that shut them out of certain religious entities (active homosexuals are rejected outright by Catholic seminaries now; they are not worth the millions in lawsuits they will cause 5 years down the road). There are simply not enough freaks to outweigh the number of people who view their behaviour as abominable, un-natural & disgusting.

Gays will not be held to scientific standards. Never mind that they die ten or fifteen years earlier than others. Gay sex is a drug like alcohol. It tends to kill the body.

I think civil disobedience is going to be necessary pretty soon. That, and voting out all Dems and any Repubs that push the homosexual agenda. Anyone who isn't on board with the homo-nazi agenda knows that homosexuals are more likely to be sexual predators who target the young.

We should have all learned years ago that the name the anarchists give a bill means the exact opposite.

As soon as Massachusetts accepted "gay" marriage/civil unions; the Catholic Church was told they had to accept "gay" parent adoptions. Church said no, and thus Mass. no longer allows Catholic Adoption agencies to function in their state.

If this stuff goes nationwide, so will the discrimination against religion-based entities who refuse to sign onto the "gay" agenda.

Apparently, pushing the agenda is more important than delivering aid and help to the children.

Here’s another instance in which we are told that we have to be liberal on an issue, or else we are bigoted and hateful. And once tagged as bigoted and discriminatory, we are then considered unfit to adopt or be foster parents. I think that’s where the liberal logic is going on this issue.

I’m sorry. I dont get your point. Mine is: the ghetto is where they send you after the government starts saying your religion is “discriminatory,” in what has to be the irony of ironies.
