Fox News says the United States has deployed some Marines and two amphibious ships to help with the evacuations in Libya.
The news comes one day after the U.S. moved naval and air forces closer to Libya and said all options were open, including patrols of the North African nation's skies to protect its citizens from their ruler, Muammar Qaddafi.
The Obama administration is demanding that Gadhafi relinquish power immediately.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned that Libya is at risk of collapsing into a "protracted civil war" amid increasingly violent clashes between the two sides.
On Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice cast doubt on Qaddafi's sanity and ability to lead and said the international community will continue pressuring Qaddafi with embargos and sanctions until he steps down.

Yep. Help with evacuation. No big deal, blown way out of proportion here. And they won’t enforce a no fly zone. Too many variables. Escaping pilots, relief planes, etc.

A few months from now, some powerful, corrupt, long-term leftist legislator will be making long-winded speeches calling these Marines cold-blooded murderers, and there will still be trials and courts martial going on 10 years from now to justify some officers’ incompetence.

I think that all the info they have is that the U.S. is deploying Marines. The rest is background filler.
Gates said we were sending planes, but we haven’t received any requests for air cover from the rebels yet. Are they the forces we take directions from now?

I’m 72, and we have been playing catch up all of the last century and this century.
My Dad was a WWI Vet, he and his fellow vets were drafted from their farms/ranches/stores/wherever to fight a German professional army. That was a big catchup.
I’m 72, and my first real memory was Pearl Harbor another example of catchup. Then came the NK invasion of SK and then the ChiCom invasion of Korea.
The cold war got hotter and about exploded with the Cuban Crisis and that evolved into the Viet Nam war. I was on active duty during those two catchups.
Then the Islamofascists took over Iran and we have been catching up since then.
9/11 was another catchup.
Now we have Libya, Egypt and most of the middle east/North Africa getting ready to explode.

this is typical of Obama a tepid response some Marines and two amphibious landing craft to evacuate more Westerners. He will do the least possible and than he will expect the praise when and if Qaddaffi falls. A prseident whom has no backbone and no spirit to fight for anything than mediocrity. Obama is quoting Harry reid “This War is lost, that is in Libya by the USA”
