Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin won the Townhall.com Republican Straw Poll for February reflecting the opinion of hundreds of thousands of conservative voters on Townhall.com and HotAir.com. Second place belonged to Ron Paul with 15 percent and third place went to Mitt Romney with 11 percent.

Townhall/HotAir, the leading conservative online network owned by Salem Communications (NASDAQ: SALM), released the February results of the Townhall Republican Straw Poll Monday. With hundreds of thousands of Townhall.com and HotAir.com readers registering their votes, the results foreshadow the battle for the Republican nomination over the next several months.

As a westerner, my perception is that the Republican Party Establishment has a decidedly “East Coast,” “Country Club,” “moderate,” “Democrat lite” flavor. It does not surprise me that Romney is their preferred nominee (puke) while Sarah is looked upon with horror.

To really change the Republican Party I’ve often thought that we need to get them off the eastern seaboard, away from the influences of the cesspool that is DC, and back to its roots farther west, with Wisconsin, it’s birthplace, the very easternmost possible location for its headquarters.
