CALVERT CITY, Ky. -- A mother charged with endangering her children said she was wandering along a western Kentucky interstate with them after snorting bath salts.
Kentucky State Police said they found a 2-year-old boy with a head injury lying on the inside edge of Interstate 24 in Marshall County and his mother carrying a 5-year-old child in the median.
Police said 29-year-old Cynthia Palmer told officers she had been snorting bath salts and began to hallucinate Monday night while driving from the Tennessee side of Fort Campbell.
Officers said she stopped and attempted to carry both children across the roadway, but dropped the younger child and left him.
The 2-year-old was taken to a hospital and the older child was taken into custody by Tennessee Social Services.
Palmer was charged with assault, wanton endangerment and public intoxication.
Court records do not list an attorney for her.
A Kentucky House committee approved a bill last month that would ban the sale or possession of the synthetic drug marketed as bath salts and sold under such brand names as Ivory Wave or Purple Wave.
Committee members were told that the substance can cause delusional behavior, confusion, agitation and paranoia.
I should have said “more about bath salts here”.
Until they started to intentionally melt butter.
They didn’t start randomly snorting bath salts. This was purposely created as a synthetic drug and has no bath salt content at all.
This is an epidemic in the Rust Belt states.
These “bath salts” are comparable to meth.
How about the guy (it HAD to be a GUY) who thought “Y’know, I think I’m gonna lick that there toad!”
We have stories like this in our paper every week:
Police: Bath salts user thought river creatures stalked him
February 21, 2011 - By PATRICK DONLIN -
Disheveled, disturbed and apparently under the influence, a local man had repeated run-ins with South Williamsport Borough police the past few months.
Borough Detective Sgt. James Taylor said the first time the 29-year-old man encountered police, he claimed to be using synthetic marijuana.
“He said it was K2 or spice from the head shops,” Taylor said, using drug culture slang for types of chemically laden herbs smoked to get high.
The man said in later encounters he had snorted Blue Silk, which officers investigated online to discover is a type of bath salt.
Taylor said police had nine encounters with the man from Nov. 18 to Dec. 5.
Sometimes, he allegedly called 911 emergency dispatchers with whom he reportedly had rambling conversations.
On other occasions, Taylor said he was known to disturb area residents by knocking on their doors.
On Nov. 18, the man believed he was being chased by other people - and other creatures.
The clothes he was wearing were wet, and he was partially disrobed when found near a borough home after police were summoned by residents who said he had pounded his fists on their door requesting entry.
Taylor doesn’t know for sure if the suspect jumped in the nearby West Branch of the Susquehanna River, but he was told so.
“He told me he was being chased by two other people who were trying to lasso him with a rope in the woods,” Taylor said. “From there, he said he swam in the river to get away, where he claimed to be chased by snakes and crocodiles.”
How about the first person to Google, “Helen Thomas Nude”
I mean why?
Just another unintended consequence of the war on drugs. Who knows what evil genie has been let out of the bottle now. They will make it illegal, then fight its manufacture. Then we will go another round as someone else finds a way around the laws against this substance. Same way meth was created.
Yeah because if she had access to legal cocaine this would NEVER have happened!
You are a damn fool.
she intentionally stuffed this crap up her nose, and endangered her kids, it aint the 'bath salts' companys fault...
wonder if thats why bambam has troubles with extending that finger...
I'd say that person never saw HT in his life. Now of to get some eye bleach.
Bath Salts????
Jeez. Great...there goes one more thing I can’t buy because I refuse to jump through the bureaucratic loops. Is there nothing these people won’t try to make a drug out of? lol.
Meth has been around since the early 1900’s. It wasn’t created as an attempt to get around drug laws.
The gas companies clearly state that their product could KILL YOU. These drugs are being sold as “bath salts.” If they’re not bath salts, and some 90 year old lady buys them thinking they’ll help her arthritis, the biggest issue is that she gets home and doesn’t have a salty bath.
It’s called false advertising. They’re clearly not intended for use as bath salts, but they’re being sold as such. I don’t care if people want to use it, I’m more concerned about the ramifications if some baby puts one of these packets in its mouth and inhales some of the “bath salts” from the open package.
I’m all for libertarian principles when it comes to drugs, but this is clearly false advertising and, at worst, malicious intent to defraud or cause harm.
Epsom salts are well-advised as a permanent part of any medicine cabinet. Soaking a wound or even a bee sting (as I discovered recently) in as-hot-as-you-can-stand-it water with epsom salts draws the poisons out of the wound or bite, promoting faster healing.
And when scented, epsom salts also make great bath salts just for relaxing. The use of epsom salts likely helped saved my foot when I was a kid and cut the foot badly on an old rusty oildrum.
I sure as heck wouldn't snort epsom salts!
Yet it did happen to her and her children. She wanted to get high and she did so. She has a problem in that she was not seeking God, but rather attempting to escape her reality. She is most likely a dumbed down product of our marxist school system and dependent on some sort of marxist support system.
The availability of drugs is not the problem. It is the teaching of our young that they should be dependent on government to survive rather than follow Gods ways and thrive. When people are taught the greatness of a biblical life and see the fruits of it throughout their lives, and how it amplifies as it works in those around you...they naturally ignore drugs.
We are in a fight for the souls of those who are lost to a group of people who teach them that they have no need of God, they only need government to take care of them. That they can live however they want within the dictates of said government. When we give government union jobs to people who do nothing other than imprison those who listen government unions we create a circular wasteland of empowerment to government unions.
You are right. I should have stated that meth replaced cocaine in many areas because cocaine became hard to find.
