JOHN Edwards likes em old.
The disgraced politician took advantage of a wealthy 100-year-old supporter to cover up the fact that he had an out-of-wedlock baby with his mistress, according to a new report.
Interior decorator Bryan Huffman a key witness in the federal grand jury investigation of Edwards presidential campaign told American tabloid the National Enquirer that John misled Bunny Mellon, the super-wealthy campaign contributor whos been dubbed the ex-North Carolina senators Sugar Mama.
I feel it was a misleading situation and an unfortunate situation, Huffman said.
She and I found out about the girlfriend and the baby like the rest of the country. We had absolutely no knowledge about them.
Prosecutors are rushing to record testimony from Mellon because of her advanced age.
Her statement could be used at a federal trial if Edwards is indicted and could potentially send him to jail.
As for Mrs Mellon herself, the old adage applies: There's no fool like an old fool.
To paraphrase Obama’s message to the Republicans, “John, erections have consequences.”
Edwards couldn't help himself.
No shocker here. In my opinion 95% of the politicians in DC, and in this thug Regime 100%, and elsewhere are taking advantage (and worse) of the American people 24/7!
He couldn’t resist the opportunity to squeeze a Mellon . . .
Scary to think how so many people can be duped as evidenced in November 2008.
Politicians screw araound all the time and stupid ones have kids from the relationship. How can his lying to an old, wealthy Demoncrat put him in prison? Since when do people today, JUDGE others on these matters? BTW, it’s too bad they don’t!
them = then
“Her statement could be used at a federal trial if Edwards is indicted and could potentially send him to jail.”
HUH? She has to be able to testify, one cannot cross examine a witness if that witness is a one sided grand jury record. They should get on with the indictment and trial ASAP due to her advanced age as her time to testify is very limited.
How about Thornton Mellons wife
Didn’t she make her million$ from her husbands “Tall and Fat” stores?
Trendy Man: Mr. Melon, your wife was just showing us her Klimt.
Thornton Melon: You too, huh? She's shown it to everybody.
Trendy Man: Well, she's very proud of it.
Thornton Melon: I'm proud of mine too. I don't go waving it around at parties, though.
Trendy Man: It's an exceptional painting.
Thornton Melon: Oh, the painting.
Hi there.
Are you a large person? Pleasantly plump?
A little on the hefty side, perhaps?
Well, let’s face it: Are you FAT?
When you go jogging, do you leave pot-holes?
When you make love, do you have to give directions?
At the zoo, do the elephants throw YOU peanuts?
Do you look at a menu and say ‘OK’?
Well, now, you can eat all you want, because at Thornton Melon’s “Tall & Fat” stores, we’ve got you covered.
That’s right. Fine woolen, and woolen-blend suits and sport coats, in all the larger sizes - husky, stout, extra-stout, and the new Hindenburg line.
And for you ladies we have caftans, muumuus, and our own exclusive A-frame in all colors and patterns. Yes, we have miles and miles of fabric.
So take it from me, Thornton Melon, if you want to look thin, you hang out with fat people.
SICK of hearing of this story ... who cares ...
A millionaire takes advantage of a 100 year old woman. PLUS, he took her money to run for office. Shows just how slimy politicians are.
I agree. I know alot of people who supported him. I would look at them and ask "How? How can you support this oily ambulance chaser? He channeled a fetus in a medical malpractice trial? He's an effing bloodsucking scumbag!"
But they didn't see it that way. He was a champion of the less fortunate. He articulated how there were two Americas - the poor and the Republican. Somehow, he convinced them he was an ally of the downtrodden, with his $600,000,000 - like Bruce Wayne or something.
People should really be stripped of their voting rights when history proves them so utterly and undeniably stupid.
Hear! Hear! The Free Republic reply of the day (so far)!
History is full of people who try to gain power by pretending to be a friend to the masses. The Bolsheviks were the masters of that, and it lead to the slaughter of 100 million.
Mellon? Of the Scaife/Mellon family??
