Southern Momentum (Restrictionist Bills Advance in Utah, Oklahoma, and Georgia)
Youth for Western Civilization ^ | 3/1/2011 | William L. Houston

John Anderson has already shared the good news of the recent victory for restrictionists over in-state tuition for illegal aliens in Kansas.

I'm tracking a few other important stories:

Utah

As in Kansas, the Utah House voted today to repeal the Utah version of the DREAM Act which makes illegal aliens eligible for in-state tuition at Utah universities. Last week, the Utah House approved Rep. Sandstrom's Arizona-style immigration law and Rep. Herrod's E-Verify bill.

This bill also has a catch: illegal aliens are still eligible for in-state tuition if they (or their parents) can prove to have paid state income taxes for three consecutive years. Originally, Rep. Wimmer intended to eliminate in-state tuition for illegals altogether, but the stronger version was watered down by the Utah RINOs in committee.

Republicans control the Utah House, 58 to 15. The final vote was 44 to 28. Over a dozen Republicans joined with the unanimous Democratic opposition to block DREAM Act repeal in Utah.

Rep. Kay McIff (R-Richfield) argued that her Republican colleagues were "on the wrong side of history" and compared repeal to Jim Crow segregation in the American South.

Meanwhile, Democrats in the Utah Senate lost a party line vote (21 to 7) in the "Senate Rules Committee" to force a hearing on a bill that would protect "gay and transgender Utahns from employment and housing discrimination."

In Utah, the Democratic Party is more interested in crusading for the rights of transsexuals and illegal aliens than representing the views of the Utah majority on immigration and other important matters, but that is hardly anything new.

We live in a nation where progressive commentators sympathize with the Muslim Brotherhood while demonizing the Tea Party. . . .

“Restrictionist” is a negative term—a more correct one would be “Reinstitutionist” as they are restoring the rule of law.

Get rid of this stupid woman. When does she come up for election?

Now that people are waking up to the rewarding of criminal activity and are tired of it, it's "racist", "anti-immigrant", "immoral", etc., etc. (Those are the weak defenses of the Left and of the La Raza-type crowd).

I hope this spreads to all 57 States......

“The Alabama immigration package includes:

- An Arizona-style immigration law that would give Alabama state troopers the power to arrest illegal aliens for being in Alabama illegally”

“Sweet home Alabama... Lord I’m comin home to you!”

Will the Governor sign it if it passes? Or will he cave in to the big AG interests?
