Statement in Response to President Obama’s Misunderstanding

Madison– Today President Obama again weighed in against Governor Walker’s proposal to balance the state’s budget deficit by having state government workers contribute a modest amount toward their own pensions and pay 12.6 percent toward their healthcare premiums.

In response to the President’s comments, the Governor’s Press Secretary Cullen Werwie issued the following statement:

I'm sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I'm sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.

Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.

I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.

Does this include county and municipal employees? I certainly hope so.

Thanks Jane, for putting this up. Also thanks to the Admin Moderator for the necessary editing/tracking. Sometimes we don’t thank the AM’s enough. I’ve been pulled out of many a jam by the AM and hey, a little sucking up never hurts either.

So Jane, I assume you’re from Wisconsin so I’ll address my puzzlement/concerns to you but also anyone else to jump in and clear my fuzzy mind.

First, let me say that by me Walker is a fine fellow and like so many Repubs across these fruited plains he has to deal with years of fiscal Democratic wreckage all the while being villified and degraded....it’s a sin, dear Lord it’s a sin.

But as I sit here in the swamps of Delaware I scratch my head and wonder, as I’ve wondered for these past many days, why Walker doesn’t do more?

Why doesn’t he do any one of a number of things available to him? I’ve got some suggestions but please correct me if what I am suggesting is impossible/illegal, or both.

First, why doesn’t he and his pub buddies get busy passing all kinds of legislation NOT requiring a quorom? As I understand it the quorom is only required for budget issues so why don’t the pubs get in there...pass voteer ID for example, why don’t they go after their dream list? Does anybody think that the Dems, given the opportunity, wouldn’t be in there making Obama Jesus and giving every Democrat voter freebies of any sort?

Second, why’s he sitting around waiting for the Dems to return? So okay, a couple of days....I’ll allow. But why all this time? Although I guess cause of that quorom thing he can’t do much but wait but can’t he dock those assholes’ paychecks?

Third, why’s he letting those thugs camp out in the state capitol all night? I know it’s a public building and all but all across the fruited plains public buildings are closed from time to time and I’m not sure they’re meant to serve as hotels day and night.

I’m getting antsy out here, wanting the Dems to start really suffering, to see some national pubs like Boehner and the House guys get out there and help change the national perception. Yesterday I read in some poll or another the public does NOT want to see public employees denied collective bargaining and I know in my heart that the public is not all that clear on the rot of the bargaining process this brings.

You got an elected guy bargaining with public employee unions, giving away TAXPAYER dollars, not his own, then when the unions get the big bucks, they collect the big dues then they contribute to ?...the same elected guy who gave them the largesse to begin with!

We need the pubs....even the federal guys....bringing this up. AND I chanced to see Walker on Fox News Sunday this past week. He’s a good speaker but he did not do such a good job on this matter.

Cause I don’t believe for a minute that the public would buy this if they fully understood it. They are busy carrying this country on their backs, raising the children, living law-abiding happy lives that makes this country great.

By me, the Dems win the PR battle every damn time.

Where have I been? I’ve been right here in Alabama. I don’t keep up with every race for Congress. But thanks for the update and glad he won.

There is a fine line between doing too much and becoming vilified, and doing the right thing and pushing the right amount. I trust his judgement so far and am fine with what he is doing. Just b/c the Dems would shove it down our throat does not mean to return the favor. That just incurs anger and resentment. Two wrongs don't make a right. Better to go about this the right way. It's how our founder's envisioned this country and how we should lead it to get back to that foundation. Not follow in the Democrat's path.

Any statement that says the “Pres__ent knows” are facts not in evidence. I do not believe DumBO knows what he reads.

I love it.

The child in the White Hut comes out with inference, innuendo, and obfuscated double-speak in siding with the unions, and the adults in charge in Wisconsin come out with the clear facts of the situation.

Rats always scurry away from the light.

I think that Andy Stern is now working on the International in SEIU. He's working to set up SEIU branches in other parts of the world. I read that he set up a branch in Sweden to organize "security workers".

“...The evil-left must be crushed politically...”

Sand88, what makes you think they’ll stop after they’re “crushed politically”? They always have an above ground component - political front groups, unions, ACLU, etc., - and an underground component - direct action groups and other radical lunatics, maniacs, and bomb throwers - which they WILL turn on when they lose at the polls.

This is a war that has been going on in this country since Marx and Engels wrote their stupid manifesto in 1848.

Like it or not, they’ll make it come to blows. It’s inevitable.
They’ve been jerking off over this moment in time for over a century now - they’re NOT going to give up just because of election results.

We’re dealing with psychotic lunatics, not rational people. One psychotic in a group of normal people is not a problem, and can be dealt with easily; THEY have a whole PARTY of psychotics getting together, in positions of power, and anything goes at the point...

Just be prepared for things to get a whole lot worse.

Oh my... 8-)

I just had to follow the link to make sure this was real. That was sure a shot across the bow at Obama (is my language to violent for political discourse these days?).

I agree. No employee who’s salary depends on the tax payer should have even been allowed to unionize.

I agree with all you have stated. We are quite prepared, as are many people I know. Many good citizens have been taking the proper steps to prepare for the worse.

Yes, it is almost a certainty that the left will get violent. I fully expect it -- that is what Marxists do. The left is evil. God forbid it should decay into civil war, but if something like that happens, Patriots will unleash enough hell to restore our Republic to it's Constitutional roots. I think realistically there will only be pockets of violence that will quickly be extinguished.

He should to run on that, he wants Wisconsin tax payers to have the same deal as Federal employees.

Makes it harder for the union thugs to fain poverty as if their “rights” to raid our pockets were being violated.
