Its not quite leftist academic Frances Fox Piven calling for violent Greece-style riots in America. But in an interview with the University of Oklahomas student newspaper (he was in town February 22 for a talk), Paul Krugman, respected economist turned partisan liberal New York Times columnist, suggested American college students should pick up some tips from students in London and Paris about fighting public spending cuts.
The Daily: You mentioned how children and students suffer from cuts to public agencies. What advice would you give students to impact the political scene?
Krugman: Well, you know, maybe we could learn a little bit from British students or French students who actually demonstrated against these cuts. What happens, weve got actually in America, the seniors are very noisy. Everybody knows you dont dare cut programs for the elderly, so lets cut programs for the youth. If we can change that, then wed do a little better.
And what exactly would we learn from British and French students? Violent protest tactics, for one.

Yes, Paul....
When your ideas fail to sell at the ballot box, you can always try stirring up mobs with bumper sticker lies.
Um, isn’t inciting violence/riot a crime?
Oh, that’s right, this jackwipe is a lib/dem, so he’s above the law. I forgot, how silly of me.
/only partial sarc these days
Krugman did not absorb the lesson of Kent State. The left thought that after the four students were killed that the nation would finally support them. The shock was that the people of this country were sick to death of the students and their constant demonstrations and violence. When the students were killed the country said in essence it’s about time. Yeah, Krugman, students did violent things in the 60’s and 70’s. And some of them lost their lives for a disgusting pathological philosophy. And you want more? Like cheetahcat posted - you go first.
Oh cool! Now we’ll get burning cars and entire cities shut down. Is Krugman now shilling for the white house?
Paul has an element of truth in what he says but he never makes the real point. Students should protest over entitlement spending since they are the ones who will suffer for it over the long term in the form of higher taxes and less return on their tax dollars.
The idiot is thinking that the riots won’t affect him. Lib media types are all acting like they will be spectators when the poop hits the fan.
I guess they didn’t see what happened in Egypt.
