DOA: No more protesters in Capitol until remaining protesters comply with law enforcement

The Department of Administration issued a statement this morning that no additional protesters will be allowed to enter the Capitol until remaining opponents of the budget repair bill comply with law enforcement orders to clear the building.

DOA Executive Assistant Jodi Jensen said the majority of protesters departed the building upon the request of Capitol Police Sunday evening, and that those who remained have complied with officers and remained in a "designed area of the building."

"Officers in the building are continuing to work with those few individuals to gain their compliance. No additional protestors will be allowed into the building until this situation is resolved. Once it is, law enforcement will continue to implement the procedures that were announced this morning," Jensen said. "Under those procedures, protestors will be allowed into the building, but crowd size will be adjusted to accommodate the cleaning crews, the preparation for the Tuesday’s joint legislative session and the number of protestors who remained in the building overnight."

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca said announcing the "surprise" lockdown after its implementation is unacceptable.

"Denying people access to the People's House of Democracy and their elected representatives is not acceptable, especially when it was not communicated to offices in the building and to the public or media in advance and there have been no incidents to date," said Barca, D-Kenosha, in a statement. "Politicians may not always enjoy hearing what the citizens of this state have to say, but it is wrong to block elected officials from their constituents."

The people left in the Bldg. are unemployed

Most likely temporarily employed by the teachers' union.

Animals? They were bringing animals into the building?

I'm thinking it's a ploy to keep the unwashed, hairy hippy types out, since many are indistinguishable from animals.

IMHO, “Season’s In The Sun” by Terry Jacks, endlessly played on a continuous loop, would qualify as a real vein opener - room “emptier”....

If not already a rule, a good one would be that you have to show I.D. identifying you as a resident of Wisconsin to enter. The “compassionate” rationale would be that an “oust of stater” should not be taking up a space that would allow more State residents in.

Hmm...  Parts of the capital were not designed.  Good to know.  I thought they looked pretty good for not being coordinated with the parts that were designed.

I don't understand why they are letting the capital building be occupied.

If people wish to hold up signs outside and make noise, that's their right.  Stopping business inside, or causing a possible security threat to public officials, and other members of the public, is not fine.

Why are they always “defusing” things?

I long for the sixties, when the police would put on their helmets and wade in with batons flailing.

Ah, the crunching of leftist heads, the spatter of leftist blood...those were the days.

All the video and newscasts show that most of the protesters are just young college students and freaky people with their drums and skulls and incense. Put up and bused by Unions to create a circus. Ridiculous

Oh My!

"...and there were goatburgers all over the highway in Galt, California..."

Now that would be racist to require photo ID. At least it is if you are trying to prevent voter fraud.

I had the pleasure of doing that at the '68 convention in Chicago. I was on the PD and we handled them pretty well. Broke a lot of nightsticks on the hippy-dippys. But didn't care for the excrete that rained down on us from the Conrad Hilton by the mcgovern hq above.

I was a Democrat in grad school. I watched the SDS, Weathermen, and loopy flower children storming the chancellor’s or dean’s offices and squatting .... that’s what led me to become republican.
Looks like they’re at it again. Same old, same old.
