KINGMAN — A Bullhead City man was indicted for first-degree murder for the alleged shooting death of another man.

A Mohave County grand jury indicted Carlos Elisianio Gomez, 24 of first-degree murder. He is expected to be arraigned on the charge Thursday before Superior Court Commissioner Derek Carlisle.

Originally from Guatemala, Gomez is being held in county jail without bond. He also has a border patrol hold for being an illegal immigrant, according to the county jail.

Gomez is charged with shooting Daniel Mares Lopez on Feb. 17 while Lopez was in the street at Coronel and Coronado drives. He was taken to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Gomez was arrested the next day as he worked at a business in the 900 block of Hancock Road.

Gomez allegedly shot Lopez, 39, for having an affair with Gomez’s 15-year-old girlfriend. Lopez’s murder was the first in 2011 in Bullhead City.

The Bullhead City Police Department is still looking for the handgun used in the shooting. Mohave Silent Witness is also offering a reward for information about the weapon.

“...alleged shooting death...” Was it a shooting death or not, and if not, why is it being alleged? ...Someone got paid to write this.

Same thing, is the illegal here illegally or not. It’s a generalized term that applies to people who enter this country illegally, or allow their legal status to expire, not a term that depends upon a legal decision after the fact, and therefore, not a term that needs to be prefaced with alleged. But our goofy, American loathing media will bend to any extreme to appease the radical left.
