Today was a very good day!!

The morning appt started out well...we waited less than 5 minutes to get in. His BP was 106/68 and when the doc reached out to greet and shake hands (a friend, and doc for 35 years), my Dad smiled and said hello. I made eye contact with the doc and said the Lexapro is starting to work. He said, “I can see that”. The visit 2 weeks ago had a major meltdown right in front of him. So he can see the change.

The only down note of the day is that nothing has helped with the non-sleeping issue. He will be on Lexapro for at least 6 months, so maybe this will change.

The afternoon visit was to the heart doctor...with a mostly (for an 88 year old heart) clean bill of health from yesterday’s echocardiogram (he has been worried about the results since he took the test). He does have atrial fibrillation, but he was taken off Diovan, the blood pressure meds). He was pleased about losing a pill. We have been having minor meltdowns, lately, about “all this medicine stuff”. AND, except for the frequent finger sticks to check the Coumadin’s job, the heart doc turned him loose for a year.

My thanks to all of you for your continued prayers. My Mom and I are seeing occasional glimmers of the old husband/Dad. Six weeks ago I honestly was not sure if he could/would make it.
