Really sad.

I know some folks think it is intrusive for government to protect people from drugs, and I am often appalled by the excesses perpetrated in the War against Drugs, but I think people are self-destructive and really get in over their heads with some of these substances. It hurts them. It hurts their family. It hurts society.

I just can't jump on the legalization bandwagon.

We should limit drug use to the already ugly - no harm no foul.

A horrible addiction that quickly ruins your life.

No wonder pseudoephedrine products are going back to prescription only status in most states.

Yes it is sad, but it isn’t the government’s role to nanny people and stop them making stupid choices. Giving the government the power and the precedent to do that makes it harder to argue against them doing it in other aspects of people’s lives...

before they banned sudafed from being openly sold, 75% of the meth in this country came from Mexico....now with sudafed banned, 100% comes from Mexico....

and for that, I have to sign away my personal info to the govt just to get a little sinus relief....

better stock pile aspirin....once the govt discovers that Americans can actually treat their own headaches and muscle aches and viral fevers, they'll swoop down and make that illegal to sell openly...afterall, where there's a buck to be made off the average citizen.....

I saw a documentary last week on CNBC about the connection between meth addiction and identity theft, which I didn’t realize has been well known for quite a while.

Victimless crime my butt.

Dear USN Vet, having seen some of these people up close I would opine that it’s number of things. Starting with jacking up your metabolism till your heart jumps out of your chest might make you lose your appetite. Then because you’re so wired your face muscles are always taut. And add in that your tooth enamel softens until the teeth rot out of your mouth. That phenomenon is called ‘meth mouth”. Check it out on google sometime. Bad news all around.

It’s a state issue, not a federal one. Surely you can jump on that bandwagon called the Constitution.

"What about Meth causes this?"

If you are referring to the sores, I can explain that. What happens is that these people have a constant need to scratch. Their face always feels itchy. They scratch to the point of ripping skin off their faces and tearing the scabs away also.

No, I do not know this from personal experience. I work with a youth organization called "Young Marines" and it is a Youth Drug Demand Reduction Program. The kids in the program go through a certain amount of drug education every quarter. Of course I sit in on a lot of it and learn also.

They itch and scratch incessantly, and the drug also constricts blood vessels, which hinders healing. Facial distortion due to constantly tensed muscles. Enamel wear due to teeth grinding and inhaled contaminants that adhere. Weight loss due to an accelerated metabolism.

An old cop I know told me it took years before he could tell someone was on heroin just by looking, but with meth it takes weeks. Scary stuff.

As these shocking photos amply demonstrate, drug use, like alcoholism, which takes longer to manifest its physical cost on the body, is inevitably destructive and benefits no one, especially the drug user. When the issue is drug use, the Libertarian cry of ‘freedom’ rings hollow for most folks.

In this day & age anyone doing drugs is a moron and self destructive. There are those who will tell you this sort of behavior is OK but anyone w/ a functioning brain knows that’s a lie. In my area meth-heads abound. Its the special kind of stupid E TN is known for. When they become too impaired to run their own lives the tax payers get to pay their way. What fun.

So if it can't be deemed beneficial to an individual, you support outlawing it. Gee, that sounds mighty liberty loving of you.
