ROCK HILL, S.C. As Sarah Palin wonders whether to run for president, she might want to talk to people in places such as South Carolina.
She'd find her star fading, and her prospects daunting.
Republicans still like her, but now they openly question whether she could or should be nominated for president, let alone elected.
At a recent gathering in South Carolina, the site of a crucial early presidential primary next year, party activists said the former Alaska governor didn't have the experience, the knowledge of issues or the ability to get beyond folksy slang and bumper-sticker generalities that they think is needed to win and govern.
Many are shopping for someone else. They're looking at Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., for example, and seeing what they call a smarter, more experienced candidate who's equally as conservative.
"Sarah Palin with a brain," said Gail Moore, a Republican from Columbia.

She has to measure the resistence/support she is getting from the Party. She knows that the rest of the field is lackluster, although who can tell who will break away. A lot depends on events. Timing is everything.
“I say let her run. Let the voters decide.”
Absolutely!
Arapaio as DHS, Mark Levin as AG and Me as the First Masseuse for Sarah’s weary body.
Well..................
She doesnt have an obligation to run? Given this country’s mess?
Sexism is no myth. Male pols are very competitive and they hate the idea of competing with women, especially competitive women. And Palin is that. The rap on Hilary was that she was a “wife,” but she is tougher than Bill is.
"She's not really creative," said Swain Shepperd, a retiree from Rock Hill. "She just repeats what's already been said by others."
LOL! ; ~ )
Don’t want to push this too far, but she has never had a moment’s doubt of her ability to handle any office, probably not since she was elected mayor. She is an instinctual politician, like FDR. How good she is, we will soon find out.
Palin has poise, personality, and perspective. She also has a gift for for memorable phrases.
Bachmann lacks.
Bachmann is clearly angling for the VP position. The delicate cat fight between these two is unfolding.
Are you a Flee Bagger now...........Or just haven’t a damn clue what the answer to the question is?
Yeah, I’m thinking this may be pissant’s opus. IBTZ?
PS pissant, you really did name yourself appropriately.
What does “Even” mean? All the blue-blood ruling class GOP’ers are against her.
Oh Gads...Duncan Hunter?!
Sorry, but I’ll wager anybody, if Palin announced her candidacy, she would literally suck the oxygen out of the room...I’m convinced of this. If she decides to run...she’ll be the GOP nominee.
Good point but it must be a complicated decision. I will certainly be more than a little disappointed if she doesn’t.
By the looks of it Ace, you're digging yourself another deep little hole on this thread tonight.
Dig on pissant, dig on, use a bigger shovel even.....LOL!

You might notice that there is at least one very important group that cares what she thinks about the world political situation. Especially note that they did not ask Mitt Romney to speak.
Sarah is great...but I think Alan West or Herman Cain would be really outstanding presidential candidates.
