This is the “out” for the alarmists. They propose controlling something that is a lot more feasible than controlling CO2, get some laws passed to do that, and then when the global warming doesn’t materialize, they get to be the heros.

And it’s also made by the reaction of sunlight on air containing hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides that react to form ozone directly at the source of the pollution or many kilometers down wind. ....

Interesting. did not know that.
I really don’t see how ground level ozone could cause global warming. That sounds even more far fetched than upper atmosphere CO2 causing global warming.

Make them stop. I keep hearing socialists masquerading as scientists. The sky is falling. The sky is falling. Then the sky doesn’t fall. But they’re back the next day, shouting, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” Somebody please make them stop.
At least fix it so I don’t have to pay their salaries.

The projected rise in global temperatures could be cut in half in coming years if world governments focused on reducing emissions of two harmful pollutants - black carbon and ground-level ozone, including methane - rather than carbon dioxide alone, according to a U.N. study released Wednesday. Isn't that three things?
1. black carbon
2. ground-level ozone
3. methane

Okay fine ... just speaking of the obvious species...
Thus, all the more proof the idea that CO2 is a pollutant is absurd...
To: mamelukesabre
Ozone isn’t all bad. It has many industrial uses. It can be harmful if you breathe it. The electrical odor that you smell coming from the brushes of DC motors is ozone. Some people have ozone generators in their homes.

Right after WWII, the Japanese actually had coal-powered cars that ran on coal dust.
This is the part I don't get:
"...two harmful pollutants - black carbon and ground-level ozone, including methane..."
Black carbon is soot, and ozone is oxygen. Where does the methane come in? Another shot at ribeyes and ribs?

Methane comes out of the oceans, the ground, and the bottoms of lakes in far larger amonts than cattle or Mexican restaurant patrons.
Globules of frozen methane are on the ocean floor. The frozen tundra permafrost is loaded with methane. Coal mines are continuously venting methane or they will explode at the first spark.....
