A local pipefitters union has snapped up the old Hillcrest Golf Club in St. Paul, paying $4.3 million for the private club and vowing to keep it private for at least two years. The union said it hopes to breathe new life into the business, which has been in the red with sliding membership. The all-cash deal closed earlier this month. (snip) Jermusek said the union plans to add on to some of the facilities and include some union offices on the site. The pipefitters union in St. Louis also owns a golf course.

Both of my older brothers and myself used to caddy here back in late 70’s and early 80’s. Now will be a union job to carry clubs I guess.
Isn’t that rich. Down with the rich...unless we own their golf club!
Oh, great! A 6 hour round of golf with a Chevy Volt rigged for carrying clubs and six union members, one to drive and five to supervise.
Greedy capitalist pigs.

I don’t know the area, but after a browse around using Google street view, the neighborhood seems pretty nice. Am I out of line thinking that $4.3 Mil is rather cheap for this much real estate in this kind of neighborhood?

The union delegates need a place to party.
Well- there is a Silver lining inside this:
That is $4.3 million that won’t be available for NObama’s campaign coffers in 2012.
It will be easy to find the next Jimmy Hoffa. New sandtrap? Changed position of the pin? Level fairway now has a big hill in it?
Where previously players would call out “Fore!”, now with the union it’ll be “WATCH THE F**K OUT, A**HOLES!!!”/s;)
