White House press secretary Jay Carney vigorously defended President Obama’s record on openness on Thursday as he responded to a POLITICO report detailing meetings between administration officials and lobbyists that are off site and allow the visitors not to show up on records. Lobbyists told POLITICO that they’ve had meetings at the nearby Jackson Place complex, which has conference rooms where meetings can be held without subjecting themselves to Obama’s self-imposed rule of printing the names of people who visit the White House. Carney said the complex is a “White House conference center, so designated,” but he conceded that not everyone officials talk to will be known to the public.
“Sometimes we use that space if there are no spaces here,” he said. “We never said there was a way to get every name in every meeting.”
Still, Carney swatted down criticism that the White House was being secretive. “It is routine for White House officials to meet with all types of people, including lobbyists, and frequently, here,” he said. “The suggestion that we're not being transparent is laughable given the unbelievable precedent this administration has set.”
In making his case, Carney pointed to a few circumstances: For one, there are “very few meeting rooms” in the West Wing. Also, the neighboring Eisenhower Executive Office Building has been under renovation and has “very limited space.”

What transparency?
He’s crazy.
“Transparency” means his lies are so obvious that we can see right through them.

It’s his definition of ‘transparency’ that’s laughable, if it wasn’t so wrong. The man is delutional.

carney has a problem with transparency. He has been spending so much time with his head stuck up up Obama’s backside that he does understand the concept of transparency. he thinks transparency means it is opaque.

Transparency? He won’t even show us the birth certificate.
If it were just one lie per day, that would be a vast improvement.

Transparency as in: It’s so transparent you can’t even see it. And I mean CAN’T see it. That has to be what he means.
