WI TEACHERS UNION (WEAC) WASTES HALF BILLION DOLLARS ON HEALTH INS FOR WI TEACHERS
WI POLICY RESEARCH INSTITUTE REPORT VOL 13 ^ | DEC 2000 | DR MARK BROWNE PHD

Posted on 02/24/2011 5:58:19 AM PST by ADSUM

Here is a report from 2000 that shows the waste of WEAC of at least $ 50 million a year times 10+ years === 1/2 billion dollars. According to Gov Walker this excess cost is now $68 million per year. WEAC controls 85% of teacher health insurance without competition.

The market for teachers’health insurance in Wisconsin is characterized by several traits. The health insurance is determined through the collective bargaining process. The health insurance plans provided by the districts are rarely put out to bid. The WEAInsurance Corporation, an entity affiliated with the state’s largest teachers union, provides insurance coverage to roughly 85% of the districts. The peculiarities of this market suggest that competition between insurers to write health insurance coverage is severely limited in most districts. The current study reports the results of a statistical analysis that tested whether the WEAInsurance Corporation charges more for health insurance coverage than other insurers. The analysis controlled for various factors believed to be associated with the price of insurance coverage. The results suggest that the WEA Insurance Corporation does charge more for its insurance product than other insurers. Reform that would foster competition in the market for teachers’ health insurance would serve the interests of Wisconsin’s taxpayers and teachers. A model for reform is the health insurance pool for state employees. This is administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF), as is a similar pool available to Wisconsin public employers. On a statewide basis, savings that could accrue to school districts through participation in the state employee health insurance pool are estimated to be approximately $50,000,000 per year.

This is a problem has been documented that union collective bargaining causes to the taxpayer when negotiating with friendly parties (Democrat legislators and democrat controlled governments)over for a long period and the union refused to do anything..

There is a need to summarize the significant past problems in dealing with WEAC (teachers union). Everyone knows that the DP supports wholeheartly the teachers union and gives away taxpayer money to them. The union has an unfair power/leverage that increases taxpayer costs. Another issue is the unfair process of mediation/arbitration.

Just think of all the things the union could do for their members if they didn’t blow all their money giving it to democrats.

Liberals fear exposure and fear the truth more than anything else. The GOP has been spineless and gutless in exposing the truth about Liberal politicians and their Union accomplices. Expose their under-the-table deals, their buying off politicians, expose their lies and deceit, and their theft of our tax dollars. Thank goodness for patriots like Michele Malkin who has the guts to expose them in her columns and on Fox News.

Union thugs taking to the streets all across the country should show each of us who our domestic enemies are. Expose them to the American taxpayers at every opportunity. They’re currently providing us with all the proof we need to expose them prior to the 2012 election.

I know you’re being sarcastic,
but that’s the whole purpose of these unions,
to act as a laundering system to funnel taxpayer dollars, involuntarily, to the democRat party.

If this funneling were somehow to be shut off,
the union would suddenly find itself without purpose,
and would probably simply dissolve itself.

I think most of us know this fact, and I think the left, inherently, understands it as well.

If the truth were known about the goals and beliefs of the left, they’d not be elected to dog catcher.

Notice how we gravitate to ANYONE who exposes the left?
Those who do it the most fearlessly get the most support.
