No! This is a good thing. I like the idea of Obama pissing off the Supremes. He seems to have forgotten that they hold his future in their hands.
Surely no one here can be surprised at this after this administration basically ignored judges rulings on oil drilling and Obamacare.
They need to be taken down a few pegs.

After careful consideration, including review of a recommendation from me, the President of the United States has made the determination that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (“DOMA”), 1 U.S.C. § 7, as applied to same-sex couples who are legally married under state law, violates the equal protection component of the Fifth Amendment. Pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 530D, I am writing to advise you of the Executive Branch’s determination and to inform you of the steps the Department will take in two pending DOMA cases to implement that determination.
This is the most outrageous

Cause he’s GAY!
They now:
1. grant same-sex foreign diplomat couples the same “derivative” diplomatic visas as heterosexual married couples get; effectively recognizing the foreign same-sex unions as the equivalent of marriages...in violation of the spirit, if not letter, of DOMA.
2. grant same-sex US diplomat couples the same privileges as heterosexual married couples, including housing, transportation, and even black diplomatic passports for the “spouses”... in violation of the spirit, if not letter of DOMA.
3. this just started...now grant the ALIEN same-sex partners of US diplomats special “nonimmigrant” “J” visas, allowing them to live and work in the USA, as if they had a green card or US passport... in contravention of DOMA...and grossly abusing the immigration law the agency is supposed to police.
4. Issue new Consular Reports of Birth Abroad without a specific “Father” or “Mother”. Instead the new documents have the words “Father/Mother/Parents” above an area in which the names of two persons may appear in any order.
The benefits described in paragraphs 1-3 are for same-sex domestic partners only. Opposite-sex, unmarried couples need not apply.
Jail the fuhrer.

The further Obambi is pushed into a corner, the more Chicago he will get. The next move after appeasing the purple poofters will be against guns. Expect a ban and confiscation executive order.
This may be a successful short-term tactic, but it is not a defensible long-term strategy ...
Since the DOMA is supported by something like 70% of the American Public, this is not going to play well in toss-up states in 2012 ...

Gonzo president Obama tried to punk conservatives and moderates, and he’s evidently failed. Looks like he’s B-lined and is running as fast as he can back to his base in the hope of not getting creamed a little over a year from now.
Being a Naturally Curious Guy, I just re-read Article II of the Constitution of the United States . . . to see if my memory of the thing had faded.
Lo and behold, I did not read of this power that Obama has claimed for himself anywhere in Article II.
Imagine that.

Very coincidental that Obama’s change of heart comes on the same day of his lowest poll numbers being released. This is a desperate move to hold his base. But one thing Obama has forgotten is African Americans, who overwhelmingly voted for Obama, are overwhelmingly opposed to gay marriage. He is taking a gamble, hoping African Americans will hold on for racial reasons, I don’t think he will win.
