“Providence To Teachers: You’re Fired”
They are not fired. Just given notice. This is done in most districts. What is different in this case is that all the teachers got notices. Normally, some nominal number get notices and only a fraction of those are terminated.
Since notice must be given by March 1 for any teacher they might want to terminate, they just give notice on March 1 to ALL teachers, then decide at the end of the school year who to really lay off.
