I think he will run, he’d probably be the frontrunner for the nomination. Unless Lisa Madigan runs and scares him off with her “popularity”.
BTW I’ve complied a list of the Wards with the best Republican performance. They were the 12 best wards for Topinka/Rutherford/Kirk/Brady though not in the same order for all 4.
I’ll list them with the %s for Topinka and Rutherford.
41 64.43% 56.04%
42 51.99% 45.94%
45 51.05% 41.72%
23 50.87% 39.43%
43 49.40%(won) 43.90%
38 48.18% (won) 38.38%
36 47.84%(won) 39.75%
19 46.06% 36.64%
39 43.90% 35.25%
32 43.09% 38.63%
50 44.03% 34.82%
44 42.43% 35.13%

Didn’t have candidates in most of them.
If Tom Caravette (in runoff in the 38th) is a Republican too (can’t find any info and he wasn’t mentioned in an article with Gavin and Garrdio) then we could get 3 on the NW side instead of 2.
In Caravette’s facebook profile, he said, “Poliitcal views: Independent.”
The only direct reference I can find to Tom Caravette being GOP is the Log Cabin Republicans list him as a Republican candidate. Of course, that’s not saying much, since the Log Cabin “Republicans” ain’t real Republicans. They’d probably withdraw their endorsements for Members and Garrido if they saw how these guys would govern! (note they didn’t endorse Carl Segvich, who is most certainly a Republican but made no bones about his opposition to the gay agenda on his campaign site) In any case, here’s the link:

Caravette was endorsed by several conservative PACs, etc. (and possibly the Chicago Tea Party?), along with the GOP candidates. Still, that doesn’t prove it, as the Chicago Tea Party also endorsed Chico on the grounds that Rahm Emanuel sucked:

My guess is Caravette is probably a conservative-leaning independent who isn’t self-identifying as GOP because calling yourself a Republican around Chicago voters is usually tanamount to saying “don’t elect me”. In any case, I hope he wins his runoff.
Well in any case he’s not a rat, that’s something.
Well. The rat O’Conner took the 41st by 51-49.
And Garrido lost to Arena by like 20 votes or something. Ugh.
Caravette lost big.
And even ex-Republican Bernie Stone was crushed for good measure.
This song sums it up

John Garrido will request a recount, since he lost by 29 votes.
