Senator Galloway Statement on Fraudulent Sick Notes
Senator Pam Galloway (R‐Wausau), released the following statement today:
Over the weekend, various news outlets have reported that some physicians were handing out medical excuse notes to protestors attending rallies at the State Capitol. There is video footage of this including notes signed by a physician who is employed as an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have no issue with public employees who went in to see their physicians and obtained a note after being examined. However, I am outraged that doctors allegedly stood on street corners in downtown Madison passing out medical excuses like leaflets. Make no mistake these medical excuses are as flimsy as the paper they were written on.
As a physician, I took an oath to uphold professional standards. To hand out an excuse without properly evaluating a patient is both unethical and fraudulent. I am confident that reports of this will trigger a review of the medical licenses of those found to be responsible for engaging in this behavior. For those employers requiring a medical excuse to avoid taking disciplinary actions for unexcused absences, I would urge them to closely examine the validity of these notes. On a state level, I will be looking into this situation and urge the State Medical Examining Board to conduct a full investigation.
Thanks Dr. Galloway for holding the irresponsible doctors of Madistan responsible!
Whores is whores, Dr. Whores is whores...
at late as 5-10 years ago this might not have even made it to the media and would have been ignored! The libs are still acting like they can get away with this with no media exposure
GOD BLESS FOX NEWS!!!!!
(And Free Republic)
I wonder what the AMA’s statement will be concerning these doctors.
/S (if there was any doubt)
I suppose getting a note from a doctor on a street corner to attend a pro-union rally could be construed as Obamacare.
I wonder if these doctors will bill medicare, medicaid and other insurance sources for all of these consultations?
They should come down HARD on these MDs.
If they’re state employees (which it looks like they are), they should be FIRED. Immediately.
Fraud is fraud. Leaving them in their position is condoning fraud.
If possible, criminal charges should be brought against them.
Obamacare is a derogatory term. Some would question your level of racial sensitivity if you don't refer to it by it's proper name of "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act". Be careful.
That was my thought. I don’t know about the other doctors, but that guy who is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has absolutely nothing to worry about.
His tenured feet are in concrete.
Bravo Senator Doctor!!!
Forget the AMA, it’s a Doctors’ union. The proper venue is the college of physicians and surgeons (here in Canada) or its US equivalent. They actually frown on members who bring scorn on the practice of medicine!!!
“We’ve established what they are, now we’re just haggling over the price.”
Get Dan Benishek in on this one too.
However, the state might be able to fire him because he swore to uphold and defend, bla bla, the state when he took that job. That would be a loophole. OR OR OR, maybe he could lose his license and thus be ineligible to complete his job?
They'll "come down" on them just like they "came down" on the Duke 88.
About time someone looked long & hard at those who are breaking the law & ethics being thrown under the bus in order to ‘protest’.
Since most doctors are not paid by the public sector- I am puzzled why they would participate in such behavior-—
Or is this ‘doctor’ a publicly paid ‘servant of the people”?????
